Why is it sad? They are preparing for the worst. That is a good thing, and exactly what people here have been demanding. What do you think they are supposed to do in a pandemic? Would you rather the sick and dying were thrown out on the street?

It's no better or worse than needing a hospital. I'm glad we as a nation are capable of dealing with this virus and are well prepared. The better prepared we are, the quicker we can put this virus behind us and move on as a nation.
The temporary tents will provide plenty of available space should our hospital ICUs become overwhelmed, which pretty much everyone is expecting to happen. Even during normal times, there is very limited space available. Obviously, something has to be done.
If only better planning, well in advanced had taken place.
More importantly, if we still had a Federal Pandemic Office.
Also, ya know, just if this whole thing wasn’t happening at all.
