One of the dumbest things I've heard of. Why is it that walking down this aisle is "safe"-while the next one over in automotive or housewares somehow is dangerous? Common sense seems to be going out the window.

If you saw it on the news today, perhaps you can link us to the news item. I did a search and couldn't find anything at all related to what you are saying.
Perhaps they considered it non essential and banned it? Or maybe it was a momentary hallucination you were experiencing from too much social distancing?

Give us a link OP or I say it doesn't exist except to create another baseless snivel thread.

Bud, I don't know about where you live, but in my area most businesses have been closed for almost a month. And it looks like they're going to be closed for at least a month longer. That's a long time to go for not buying anything besides food. What, I shouldn't be able to buy a couple t-shirts at Target, which I need for the warming weather? Why not?

I think the idea behind it is many people are using the stores as an outing, browsing the aisles and taking their time, rather than going there with a purpose, to get food, medicine, toiletries and get out.

Geez, talk about extreme hand wringing. Maybe we should also decide what kind of food people can buy. Only healthy food as outlined by the OP.

I agree about blocking non essential areas, and I know someone who works at Walmart and plenty of workers are voicing the same as well from his experience at least.

Well, the only reason Walmart, Target, etc are open is because they sell groceries, that is unfair to stores who sell similar products but absent groceries. Food is considered essential, thus they are allowed to stay open, other items like clothing is not, in which many clothing retail have been closed.
Yes, the garden center was closed today at the Flor. location, they had a few other sections blocked off, one was the decorative lighting section (lamps, wall lights, etc), aisles with tile/grout, flooring aisle, those were the 4 I saw when I was there today, Im not sure if there were other sections blocked or not, I was only there to get one thing and it was in plumbing, so that was still open. Im sure lumber, paint, and hardware sections are considered essential.

Yes, this is probably the reason, they dont want people coming in to shop for 'non essentials' right now, the whole point in keeping essential places open, was so people could still buy groceries, NOT to buy electronics, toys, clothing, decorations, etc.

HA HA, NO, no one has contacted me or my family!

I did post these suggestions like I said, but I have to imagine, LOTS of other people were probably posting the same suggestions too, so It wasnt JUST ME, ( I was joking about that part).

Most likely, its other retail stores that are forced to close right now, that are complaining about the 'essential' places getting to take advantage of selling non essential products, when they cannot.

Seems kind of petty and childish, but who knows!
