And some experts have said that there really isn't a Republican party anymore, just a Trump party.

How The Trump Campaign Took Over The G.O.P.

President Trump’s campaign manager and a circle of allies have seized control of the Republican Party’s voter data and fund-raising apparatus, using a network of private businesses whose operations and ownership are cloaked in secrecy, largely exempt from federal disclosure.
The takeover of the Republican Party’s under-the-hood political machinery parallels the president’s domination of a party that once shunned him.

The people wanted Trump. The GOP gave the people what they wanted.

On the other side...

The people wanted Sanders. The DNC kept changing the rules enough so he wouldn't win. Second instance of this occurring.

Now what was your thread title again? Something about a party taking over... ?

He took over the GOP and turned it into a big government socialist party.

No, the GOP could have stood by their principles, but they chose to toss them aside in order to obey Trump instead.

Conservatives are outraged that a liberal has infiltrated the GOP and won Presidency. Trump's supporters are happy that they were able to get their candidate. They don't care that they had to push conservatives out of the way to do it. We have become a nation of two liberal candidates.

No, the people did not want Sanders. Of course his supporters did but the majority did not.

Conservatives like Trump because he's more conservative than most of the GOP.

Conservatives support Trump. He may be a liberal, but he's far less liberal than the "conservatives" who oppose him.

Trump isn't conservative. He's one of the most liberal Presidents we've had. Look at his fiscal policy.

Conservatives aren't pro big government and big spending like Trump and his supporters are. Conservatism is lost in the GOP with Trump supporters. This is why conservatives are frustrated with Trump... he took over their party with a liberal agenda. No one is surprised given that he used to be a democrat.
