Before Bush came into office I used to worry if there was enough money to pay my Social Security benefits. Thanks to Bush I no longer worry about it..... because I know damn well that after he squandered 3 trillion middle class taxpayer dollars there won't be any there for me when I retire!

Haliburton also had contracts wtih the last administration. And they were no-bid contracts.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that this is a mess over there, but I think you are wrong on this one. The sanctions didn't kill the 500,000 children, Saddam did by not giving them anything and saving it for his army.
As much as I liked Clinton, he was not perfect. I did not agree when he maintained the sanctions that Bush imposed, but at least he didn't cave in to the Neo-cons who were pushing him to invade Iraq.
Anupama Rao Singh, country director for the U.N. Children's Fund (UNICEF), made the estimate in an interview with Reuters.
``In absolute terms we estimate that perhaps about half a million children under 5 years of age have died, who ordinarily would not have died had the decline in mortality that was prevalent over the 70s and the 80s continued through the 90s,'' she said.'
Baghdad said the UNICEF survey proved that the sanctions were killing thousands of children every month and called for an immediate end to the embargo.
``Nutrition was not a public health problem in Iraq in the 80s. It emerged as a major problem in the 90s and it increased steadily till about 1996,'' Singh said.
She said since the start of the U.N. oil-for-food program, malnutrition rates among children had stabilized, but death rates remained extremely high.
``One in four children below 5 suffers from some form of malnutrition or other and most of them are chronically malnourished,'' Rao Singh said.
Sanctions were imposed on Iraq as punishment for its 1990 invasion of Kuwait, although the United Nations has allowed Iraq to sell oil to buy food, medicine and other humanitarian supplies.
Over three trillion dollars spent, over million Iraqis killed, over 2 million Iraqis displaced, over 4,000 US soldiers killed, tens of thousands more injured - all to invade a country that never attacked us. When will we stop meddling in other countries' affairs?
I really fail to see how ANYONE can say that this has turned out well. Personally, I felt the whole thing was a disaster from the start. The overthrow of the Sunni regime in Iraq and turning it over to a Shia-dominated government is clearly against our long-term national interests. But even if you actually believed in all this neo-con "bring democracy to the world" bullsh*t, there is no way you can be happy with how this invasion and occupation was managed. For a person who attended one of the world's premier business schools, Bush's management has been bumbling and incompetent; certainly doesn't paint a good picture of HBS.
I'm not a very partisan person, although I do have strong political views. But I will not vote for a single Republican this fall. That party needs to be purged of the neo-con, new imperialist Sean Hannity-types.

Right but dont say "we". I had nothing to do with dicky chaney and his illegal doings with Hallibarton. Talking about bushy the Dictator's side kick the booby prize is a whole nother post. I also hope bushy's best friend Ken Lay is decomposing rapidly. How many hard working Americans did he steal retirement from?
