By opening too soon, cases will skyrocket and we'll have to start the social distancing thing all over again plus deal with the death toll.

Why can't we wait one more month and do this right?
Because all the right wingers are gonna starve and/or shoot themselves if we don't open up right now. Meanwhile all the liberals will be fat and happy on their welfare checks and their Trump money.

I'd hope they'd string him up by something that has a whole lot more nerve endings than do wingtip shoes!

Shutting down the economy has created quite a toll of real human suffering, which is something Fauci was never trained to deal with or appears to care about.

What do you think one more month is going to accomplish, besides permanently kill off more businesses and jobs?

More likely, present him with a second Presidential Medal of Freedom award.

These morons out protesting are not only risking their lives, but the lives of their children, and countless others.
I wonder what part of that do they not understand.
They think it is all a hoax. With what we now know about 50%-70% of infected people not showing symptoms, it is just pure idiocy to be in a group with no mask (or with one for that matter). When one gets infected, they infect 2 more at least without social distancing. In a matter of days, we are right back where we were.

Please continue to isolate...forever.

the intent of the effort has been to reduce a sudden surge of patients needing hospitalization.

It is only logical that now the rest of the population will be infected but to a lesser degree. there is no possible way 'shelter in place' was intended to be an absolute cure. Surprised so many think it is cure and any further infection a failure.

For what? Panicking people unnecessarily and helping to cause an economic collapse?
