However, I have been following stories like this for quite a few years now. These sorts of weird reports come out every few years and they are nearly always 'Fake news'. The media reports them like they are confirmed, and then out comes the little dictator for a public appearance, to make them all look like fools.
Time will tell, but I would not bet a plug nickle that this guy is dead after following these sorts of reports for as long as I have.

Much of the media reports possibilities, but due to the low reading comprehension of many, reports are often misunderstood as confirmed.

I agree I wouldn't be surprised if this is something he, or others plan just to boost his image in his own country. It's not surprising that it came when Asia has been hit by the Coronavirus. Even though they claim no cases there the border with China isn't all that sealed. If there is wide spread of the virus he would want to shore up his support from his followers. Typical of dictators always having to use tricks to keep the people under control.
The fact that South Korea must have people on the inside in the North Korean regime they would know if something like this really did happen.
Pretending to be in critical condition is one way for a despot to dig out his enemies and spot pretenders to the throne. He might just be holed up somewhere waiting for COVID-19 to pass.
The question will be who would replace him his sister until his kids come of age he suppose to have 3 children age from 3 to 10 years old. I don't think the Chinese will allow the Kim dynasty to be overthrown.
