I'm sure it has to do a lot with the population.

Mostly older people who were out of shape and had medical issues to start.

Australia I suspect does not have a large inner city Minority community cramped together in large cities that fit these criteria.

It's like comparing Montana to NYC.
I see you ignored the rest of my post. Albany,GA is basically in a part of Georgia with a population density not that far off from Montana. A town of 75,000 surrounded by farmland.

Apples & oranges comparison.

Australia has 26 million in the entire country, while the United States has 330 million people.

Easier to contain people and the virus.

Engaging in the idiocy is bad, admitting you did it but thinking your reason for doing so is acceptable is worse. Your hoarding probably caused someone to miss out.
There is no shortage of toilet paper here. At one point, the panty-poopers cleared the shelves of the stuff in many places. That was not because there was a shortage of any kind, it was only because everyone all of the sudden decided to symbolically poop themselves in unison by hoarding this ridiculous item.

As fast as they could get the trucks in to restock the shelves, there was plenty more. And now the expectation is that sales of toilet paper in the second half of this year will be unusually low, as the people who bought it in excessive quantities are not going to be needing it for a good while.

People hoarding toilet paper. That is another one for the "You really cannot make this stuff up" list. We really have pooped ourselves badly as a species with this particular episode. We really should be collectively ashamed of ourselves.

Asking people to practice social distancing and not be out running all over the place shopping, or getting their nails done for 3.5 weeks is hardly reason for desperation.

I truly worry what will happen if we ever have an actual war on our own soil. I don't think people could handle it.

THankfully the stores are not accepting returns on things like TP, hand sanitizer, bottles of bleach, gloves, isopropyl alcohol ..... things people hoarded. Some people will probably live a little on the cramped side with all that TP for the rest of the year though. I expect to start seeing it show up on facebook swap shops at some point

But Phoenix is not humid. The latest is the virus doesn't like hot and humid.

It has been hot and humid in Miami for quite a while now, it has not prevented Miami from being a hot spot for the virus.

I have not read through the thread, but I'd bet it has to do more with Australia being bathed ultra violent light (it is their summer season) that North America is just now getting hit with in the southern states.
