I went to Aldi's, who encourages use of reusable bags, this past Tuesday and was told that bags are no longer allowed in the store. They said it was a new Dept of Health regulation here in FL but I haven't been able to find any such regulation online.

Yep, our Trader Joe's turns you away at the door if you bring in a reusable bag. Prior to this they charged for a paper bag if you didn't have your own.

Plastic bags are used in Texas(red state) all the time at grocery stores. Nothing new.

During visits to Lake Tahoe, I have shopped in Zephyr Cove, Incline Village, and (for Walmart) Carson City....all in Nevada...to give a proverbial middle finger to the plastic bag ban in California.

Plastic bags are making a comeback because of COVID-19

I just air mine out and don't use them again for 4-5 days.

At a store where I shop, you can use your own bags, only if you load the items into them, yourself.

I actually prefer to load my own bags because at my store, there is no one there that knows how to bag properly. The put about 30 lbs worth of food in one bag and less than 2 lbs in another. They don't seem to get that handles on bags do have a breaking point. I even tell them to not put all the meat in one bag and they still can't manage to split it up between a few bags.

I am, but those dirty old hippie types that plop their nasty bags on the check out counter aren't. There is a reason stores aren't allowing them you know.
