Reusable bags can still be used, provided one applies some caution.

Plastic bags are making a comeback because of COVID-19

I just air mine out and don't use them again for 4-5 days.

I imagine it would matter what types of reusable bags people have. Mine are vinyl and I just run them through the washer after every trip - cold water, gentle cycle and let them air dry in my garage (where it gets up to about 83 degrees each day). Apparently, most people don't wash theirs at all - including the people with canvas bags.

Never was a fan of the plastic bag ban, especially with the surcharge on paper bags!

Environmental advocacy is a good thing. However, impact on economically distressed areas need to be addressed before implementation.....!

First off, what makes you think this is a "liberal" decision ? And secondly, have you ever thought that maybe, with the huge increase in how many people are flooding grocery stores, that they are scrambling to get any kind of bag available ?

But it is so much more fun to lay this at "liberal's" doorsteps isn't it ? (even though you have no facts to back it up...…….but that has never stopped you before, so...…………….)

How much of a concern are reusable grocery bags accumulating bacteria?

THis.

I wash mine in the machine, hang to dry. I have plastic, non woven fabric and canvas.

They pick up all manner of stuff hauling groceries, in the back of the car, etc.

But during the stay home, I do curbside pickup.
