My Ct town is now at 65 dead, 50,000 population (>40 nursing homes btw). That makes it 1/580 of Texas, so if we had that per capita rate, Tx population, we would have had over 100 times as many deaths as Texas.

How can my thread be a failure when you took the time to respond to it?

NY had 148 deaths yesterday, with a peak of over 1000.

At its worst, Texas is seeing a tiny fraction of the deaths that NY is seeing now that it is "improving". And Texas has a much higher population than NY (and is gaining rather than losing).

Texas has the 11th lowest death rate in the entire nation, in spite of its huge population and major metro areas.

So, do tell...just how bad is Texas doing again?

Great post.

There's still a lot of people who will die in the next few months. The secret is, not to be one of them!

Pay attention to the science and ignore the politics. It's our way out of this.

Unless the 350 goes up dozens of times , Texas should remain open.

It does NOT have a major covid problem.

Newsom's state has 9 times Texas deaths, with under 2x the population. Ca is doing far worse than Texas.

What I would like to know, has there been any deaths that have not been CV-19 related?

Most businesses can maintain social distancing and operate safely. Unlike the idiots on this forum, most Texans I see are taking this virus serious.
Well, let’s see now.

Trade shows, theme parks, cruise lines and other voluntary gatherings began to cancel before any state took action. Airlines immediately reacted to the reduced demand and cancelled flights.

Your Federal Government issued guideline for Social Distancing and Gatherings which triggered states to act.

Your Federal Government closed National Parks which have yet to reopen.

Your Federal Government closed WH and Capital tours.

Your Federal Government closed Federal Courts to the general public.

Your Federal Government told its employees to work from home.

The WH is testing people daily. If positive, you go home, with pay.

The last Trump 2020 Rally happened almost 3 months ago. Trump could have led by example and started holding rallies for his base all over the US. Bring 20,000 together for SRO rallies and show us how it’s done. Heck, break with protocol and allow those who choose to open carry, too.

Set the tone at the top. Show the Corona who is boss.

The hospitals aren't overflowing.

Virtually everyone is going to get this virus. The only question is when. Those who are going to die from it, will die from it. There's no lack of medical care right now.

The lockdowns were for the express purpose of "flattening the curve," and that goal was met.

It's a crappy situation, to be sure. There's no safe way out of it. We can keep from completely destroying the economy, though. I just don't get why so many are intent on seeing THAT get flattened.
