Didn't matter -- the price of oil still took a dive.

For those who said that President Trump would never go through with it, it is time to eat crow. Would you prefer Catsup or Heinz 57 with that scavengerbird dinner?

The US is pulling four Patriot antimissile defense systems from Saudi Arabia, along with 300 soldiers deployed to man them, and also two US jet fighter squadrons.

Pentagon pulling Patriot missile systems from Saudi Arabia

The U.S. military is removing Patriot antimissile systems from Saudi Arabia as part of a shift of forces and equipment in the region following a buildup last year in response to Iranian threats, a U.S. official confirmed on Thursday.

The Wall Street Journal first reported that Washington is moving four Patriot missile batteries from the region.

The U.S. official confirmed to The Hill that two Patriot systems will come from Saudi Arabia — along with the roughly 300 military personnel deployed to man them. The two systems had been sent to the country last year after a Sept. 14 strike on two Saudi oil facilities that Washington and Riyadh both blame on Tehran, which the nation denies.

The official also confirmed that two additional Patriot systems will leave the region, as have two U.S. jet fighter squadrons.
MBS thought it would be pretty cool to play chicken with President Trump. It is surely MBS who is doing the clucking now. Without US military support, it is just a matter of time before the House of Saud would fall.

To be fair, this is not a complete pullout of all US military assets in Saudi Arabia. But it seems like it should be enough to get the message across, without completely destabalizing the entire region.

Even though President Trump did negotiate an agreement with MBS for the Saudis to cut their oil production by 10% (WTI hit $26.61 per barrel earlier today, but it is back down to $23.50 now), additional cuts are still going to be expected.

And here we are, four days later, and the Saudi's have just made a "surprise" commitment to cut 1 million barrels a day from their production.

Saudi Arabia to cut output unilaterally by extra 1 MBD for June

Oil futures ended lower on Monday, as a slump in demand for crude outweighed support from a move by Saudi Arabia and other major oil producers to further cut output in June.

Saudi Arabia’s energy ministry directed Saudi Aramco to reduce its crude-oil production by an extra, voluntary 1 million barrels per day beginning in June, a Saudi Ministry of Energy official told the Saudi Press Agency, according to news reports.

The move brings the total Saudi output cut to around 4.8 million barrels per day from the April production level, the SPA reported. Saudi oil production for June, with the output-cut agreement between the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies as well as the voluntary cuts, will total 7.492 million barrels per day, it said.

OPEC and its allies, collectively known as OPEC+, agreed last month to reduce daily output by 9.7 million barrels per day from May 1 through June.
Coincidence? No way, Jose.

So. That’s their business. I don’t care If they’re hurting themselves.
