So the US Slept through the lessons of the past that others learned from....but it’s others fault that we learned nothing. We think we are smarter than anyone else and don’t need to learn from others. We ‘muricans. Everyone wants to live here.

Okay, armchair quarterback, tell us in great detail what you would have done differently. Keep in mind that China was not honest about the magnitude when it came to the virus. After all, hindsight is 20/20 vision.

I don't agree with the pointless, cartoonishly sarcastic tone, but I do agree that the US govt should have taken it more seriously early on. This doesn't change the fact that China had acted terribly in this situation and I think anyone who's progressed past binary thought can see that.

You only choose to see what you want to see. China covered up the virus at the very beginning is pretty much public record, they chose the extreme measures to contain the virus because containing the virus was their only goal, whatever it takes. They don't care how many people lost their lives, how many people got kicked out of their apartment buildings, how many people starved to death, there were no government official records of any of those.. Do you expect all Americans to be locked down in their houses like China did for a total of 70 something days? Sure, I have no problem with that, but it is not realistic because not everybody can afford being locked down. People need to put food on the table, others need medical treatment. Do you want to be locked down in your house and you must have a police permission to take your dying kids to the hospital?

When South Korea's coronavirus cases rose to 6,767 on Saturday, up by 174 from late Friday,63.5% of the total cases is related to the Shincheonji Church. So their contact tracing became pretty black and white.

Plus, China, Japan, South Korean were the epicenter at the very beginning of the pandemic. In a way, the travel ban helped them, because there were not as many international travelers coming in the countries. Only thing they needed to focus on was to containing the virus at home.

America and ALL European countries, unfortunately, become the "virus escape" hot spot.

Global pandemic is a very complicated issue. When there is a pandemic out there, what you need to do is NOT importing new cases, and try to contain the virus at home.

When everybody in the world wants to escape the virus and America is their number one destination, what do you think would happen?

Unfortunately, our travel ban was a little too late. Look, the bottom line is that we can all sit here blaming Trump or the government all day eveyday, but all the left leaning media have said "Travel ban of china is not necessary, what we should have worried about is the flu" two months ago. Of course you can judge a situation using perfect hindsight. We have made a lot of mistakes, but the biggest lesson should be learned here is "When one country has an outbreak, ban all international traveling."

P.S. The US has done a poor job. So has Europe.

You were also the person that fell for Chinese propaganda that they do not have a massive debt bubble.

Hopefully you work for the Chinese Communist Party and are just making silly posts for a paycheck.
The most meaningful post in this thread. Thank you.

As American, we’re not perfect and we’ll never be perfect, but I’m surprised that so many Americans fall for Communist Chinese propaganda. Are we that far gone as both a people and a country?

Since when do nations depend on the honesty of other nations? Do we trust Iran when they say they do not want nuclear weapons? The US is not in the business of “trust”. That is why we have the CIA and NSA, as well as other agencies. They are supposed to know about threats to the US that countries keep secret or lie about. We never trusted China like that...so why would we start trusting them over the virus. This has nothing to do with China lying. It has everything to do with mistakes in leadership in America.

Also I remember that early on, it seemed more conservatives were worried about the situation with liberals standing on the sides saying it was "racist" to be afraid of the illness or critical of China and taking an "OK boomer" attitude to the whole thing like it was just a kitschy meme unfolding real-time.

Now it's flipped and conservatives want everything opened back up, and liberals are terrified we are doomed

This has nothing to do with republicans vs democrats for me. Together, they make up America and America has failed. What is shows is that America is to divide for its own collective good. A partisan America is a weakened America.

The bottom line, again, is that nations don’t trust other nations...especially nations seen as threats.nI know that and you all know that so why all this bs about China lying? If we were depending on China and other nations to be truthful...then why do we have the CIA?
