Its interesting you hear things no one else hears.

People are laughing at your leader, not the US. The Trump jokes about Clorox injections, etc are not only in US, they are global.

Have friends in England and Germany. Friend in England speaks derisively of President Trump, but then he is a longstanding Labour man. Friends in Germany, Americans, often tell us about the German order and insistence on following the rules, but are very much in phrase of the German federalist system that has had the states lead the C-19 response, in their respective locales.

We have a few outspoken Canadians who participate in the P&C forum and generally pretty negative about the U.S., yet some 'use' out warm southern winters to escape the brutal winters of Canada. Still, we like visiting Canada. Not a lot ~35mil pop can do to spoil a beautiful country as large as our almost 14th colony.

To each her own.

There have been some good jokes made about this situation and this is the only occasion on which I laugh. Cant laugh about the pandemic. On one hand, US and West Europe blew it and so did China. My part of the world has been surprisingly intelligent in dealing with the virus. But I don't think for a second they will be intelligent about dealing with the economic aftermath. We are all going to suffer. Nothing to laugh about.

Heard it on faux?

There are currently 10 countries (including Andorra and San Marino) in Europe with higher death rates than the US. So that leaves about 40 countries with lower rates. Oh, and of course we are still much earlier on the curve.
You do not get to "discount NY and NJ", last time I checked they are part of US.

Multiple countries are handling it much better than the US, even though they have the intrinsic disadvantage of higher densities and much higher use of mass transit.

No one knows who was earliest on the curve.

They started laughing at the US long before COVID-19 came along. Oh, say around 2016.

Do you have links to confirm your claim that vaccination will be mandatory for everyone? I don’t believe it.
