Let's stay in our homes forever because we might die if we leave. Actually, let all the Democrats stay in their houses forever. That's what they want. The rest of us will live our lives.
I just listed my car on Craig’s list. I might die if I drive. From now on, if it isn’t within walking distance, I’m not going!
As you know, the Democrat Governors keep MOVING THE GOAL POSTS. So asking them is an effort in futility. There is no reason this total lock down should have occurred nor should it be still in place.
Flatten the curve > Just a bit longer to make sure > Need to find a cure before open > New Normal.
See the problem?
Again, no one is advocating for finding a cure before "opening" the state. Not even Mayor Garcetti.
Bingo. In Michigan it is technically still a misdemeanor to gather with ANYONE not in your household, although about .000000000000000000000000000000001% of the population is actually following this at this point.
Edit: even with literally nobody following these stay at home guidelines our numbers been on the decline for at least 3-4 weeks.
Mass isolation isn't a long term term solution to mitigating the impact of this virus. Praying for a vaccine or effective treatment or for the virus to simply go away isn't one either. Simply letting the virus run rough-shod through the population isn't a humane or politically feasible response. What we have now as our supposed long term strategy is a somewhat lazy and slip-shod approach of 1-2 years of various degrees of general stay at home orders and business closures and waiting/hoping for a vaccine or effective treatment, which is socially and economically unsustainable.
People need to start thinking about how to balance the health implications of the virus and economic, personal liberty, and mental health concerns. I happen to think it's strategy based around a massive, coordinated, and proactive testing program for those at high risk of contracting and spreading the virus along with robust contact tracing and advising the vulnerable to stay at home and socially distance as much as possible, but I'm not sure of the feasibility of reaching the levels of testing required to implement such a strategy.
All I have to say is that they need to do better than whatever their long term strategy seems to be at the moment.
