I bet all those institutions are counting their money as we speak. They have conned students into paying for a sub par semester. Don't count on any refunds kids, and no... all online learning will not be equivalent to class room/lab based learning, especially if you are in a STEM field.
They should get one of those class action suits going.

That is the dumbest and most heartless post I have seen in a while! As someone who began her career teaching in a district that was poor and 95% black, I can attest to the fact that for some kids, the school lunch is the only meal these kids get in a day. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to learn when your belly is rumbling for food. For you to call them "spawns of deadbeats" is unconscionable. These are children. Human lives. And they will starve without the meals provided by the school district. And a good majority of the children in these poor neighborhoods qualify for free meals and these meals help to keep them nourished and able to learn.
After hearing Dr. Falsi suggest that schools might not re-open yesterday, a number of blue (Democrat) elected officials from the state and local level have suggested that schools will not re-open this fall due to the "threat" of COVID-19.
Notwithstanding the fact that the mortality rate for COVID-19 for those under 18 is statistically zero, what should happen if these people get their way?
#1 - All public teachers must be fired. There is no reason to pay teachers if they aren't going to teach their students. There can be a limited exception if a teacher is able to actually work 8 hours per day over the internet, but such hours must be logged and proven. No fraud - the teachers need to actually work and prove they worked.
#2 - No more property taxes. Since the government won't open schools, there is no reason for us to be paying property taxes to support closed schools.
What else must happen if the Democrat officials insist on keeping schools closed this fall?
Agreed. No reason to pay teachers for parents to teach their kids. No need to pay property tax without school. Both should be suspended.

But the OP has a point....if communities change the whole structure of school, the funding needs to be revisited.
I suspect that online schooling in lower economic communities will cost more than traditional school given all the factors.
Public schools have to teach for 180 days a year to get state and Federal funding, irregardless if they are a rich or poor school district. Online teaching counts as the school being open for business, albeit online. No school district is going to jeopardize their funding.

I think people that aren't working should be furloughed or laid off. I live in a deep blue state so I know that will never happen....they'll just try to keep the economy as closed as possible until after the election in November.

Why should we pay to feed other people’s kids? Also, if you take a look at kids in poor areas they certainly don’t look like they’re starving. A fast might do them some good.
