Nursing homes are NOT towers. Tend to be same size (basically) in all states.
Of course, Fl did not have Cuomo rushing post covid seniors into nursing homes. Of course, it was sweet of him to send body bags, concurrently, huh?
It's not so much about the nursing homes themselves but it's about the staff. In Florida, the staff is less likely to get infected themselves because they probably live in a single family home and get in a car to get to work. In NYC, staff is in an apartment complex and has to take public transit. Given that we know that roughly 20% of people have been infected in NYC, with that number focused on some of the poorer neighborhoods (where many nursing home workers live), it's likely that as a group they were more likely to be exposed. Multiply that exposure rate by every person in the household, especially household members who are also essential workers.
A similar thing is happening everywhere, and the impact on nursing homes is largely driven by the staff. Here in Massachusetts, many nursing home workers work in multiple centers and were unknowingly spreading it between them. We've done a lot to get them PPE, but the early days had such a shortage that hundreds of our homes were seeded with COVID-19. Now, we've spent the past month and a half aggressively testing at each and every nursing home with the help of the National Guard. Has Florida done the same? Don't trust their numbers unless their nursing homes are being regularly tested - even the very elderly can be asymptomatic or show such minor symptoms that it's not caught.
Short of locking down the staff in the nursing home so they cannot be exposed at their homes or second jobs, or testing daily, I'm not sure what can be done.

So New York is 10% denser and had 1000% more deaths. I was impressed with Gov. Cuomo's words but the results didn't measure up...even his own brother had covid and went out in public without a mask...no wonder they had such a problem there.
Yes, I remember at the time !!! What I saw was he wanted to be everything to all people !!! Mommy & Daddy, mental health counselor, etc.... !!! That was always doomed to fail !!! Now we see where it failed and the results led to thousands of needless deaths !!!
I held back some !!! Waiting to see the results, knowing that people like Cuomo and crew seldom produce desired results !!! They talk the talk but seldom walk the walk !!!

LOL, sounds like someone is triggered by facts and common sense. Coumo was ordering nursing homes to accept COVID-19 patients. Nursing homes house the most vulnerable members of the population. New York accounts for about 1/4th of all US COVID-19 deaths. Not a measure of success by any stretch of the imagination. The question that needs to be asked is why, but merely asking is likely to trigger a deep emotional butt hurt response in many like you, who have difficulty controlling their emotions. If so many of your fellow Americans bother you, maybe you are the problem.
What Coumo did in New York should be investigated as some sort of sick socialist plot to cleanse the population of the least productive members of society who also happen to require the most in resources and care.
