Sure, they wanted to gut the Bureau of Land Management that often stood in the way of development of public lands. They said they would move the jobs closer to the locations they manage but few want to move and locals aren't qualified. As a result, many of the positions are left unfilled. While Trump supporters will high five each other over this and are probably hoping for a Trump hotel in a national park (that they won't be able to afford), in the end, they could have had some local jobs in rural areas and the money is still horribly wasted.
"But he also sees the move — which can cost tens of thousands of dollars per employee — as a waste of money.
“The millions of taxpayer dollars being spent on this reorganization would have been better utilized on such things as hiring seasonal and permanent employees in field offices, most of which are sorely understaffed, and located in smaller, rural communities in the West," he said. "That millions of dollars in federal payroll would have been especially helpful to these rural communities now given the current economic downturn.”
Good to see them making the move-having them headquartered in DC made no sense. It's like the mayor of NYC living in Idaho and thinking he understands the needs of his residents.

Except the people that are educated to do the jobs are not interested in living in Idaho. And the ones that are aren't educated enough to do the jobs. And it's costs a fortune and likely won't stick. It's dumb for a thousand reasons but Trumpistan will love it regardless of how dumb it is.

What's dumb is expecting land managers to manage lands they are 2000 miles from and have never seen. DC had a bunch of useless paper pushers. Maybe now they can hire someone that can actually do the job.
