What is it with you people who leave out obvious choices? The best answer is that he didn't intend to kill *or* hurt Floyd, yet that's not even an option.

Probably not but he also probably didn’t give a damn either way.

He held his knee on the man's neck for 8 minutes & 43 seconds. The guy said he couldn't breathe for over 3 minutes before he passed out and peed on himself. Chauvin kept his knee there for several minutes afterwards.

I hope he spends the next 25 years in prison, and is visited by "big Bubba" daily.

And what was Floyd thinking about the final 8 minutes of his life?
All great questions I wish we could have answers for.

Under Minnesota law, intent is not required.
Yes, it is required for murder 2 in Minnesota except in cases where the felony murder rule applies or where the victim has a restraining order against the killer. The felony murder rule doesn't apply because the felony has to be something other than the violence that causes the death.

Seeing how someone started a thread showing police doing the same exact thing to a white person with the same EXACT results, I guess the answer is YES.

Yes - his intent, their intent was to kill him. And for him to get away with it.

Making it 2nd degree murder just made it more difficult to convict him.

What does all this matter? He had his knee on his neck for over 8 minutes AFTER he was already dead. Cops can’t keep killing citizens and then act like it was an accident. Too many bad apples in the police department. Almost like they have a right to kill at their discretion. If the cops used some restraint these riots would have never happened.

some of the talk on the internet says that it was a hit job on George Floyd.. Like George was connected to something and if something went wrong they put a hit job on him.

I hope that's not true, but its just what I heard, im not agreeing nor disagreeing.

but, if something like that is true, then no matter what color George was, he would have been hit anyway.

if that is true, then this whole riot is MISGUIDED.

Wouldn't that be ironic? And a whole waste of time.

Also, wouldn't it be ironic if the shut down of America due to covid fears started the fire that was just waiting for this whole thing to ignite? when you shut down people and cause all kinds of emotional effects, its just the perfect situation to cause the perfect storm.

We'll never know. I hope the truth comes out.

by the way, George was murdered and that is a crime.. but now on the news they listed about 9 police and people who got murdered by a rioter? Is this fair? Will someone riot on behalf of these 9 people? One of them was a black police chief, a kind soul.

Really? Good god! That would indicate it was intentional.
