Richmond, California, council meeting explodes over resolution blaming Israel after Hamas attack
Quote:
A California city council has passed a controversial resolution backing Palestinians in Gaza that some local Israeli supporters say will "only incentivize the Hamas Nazi terrorists" and "greenlight the endless attempts to kill more Jews."
The measure, which states that Palestinians are "currently facing a campaign of ethnic cleansing and collective punishment by the state of Israel," passed in the Bay Area city of Richmond early Wednesday morning by a 5-1 vote. A public comment hearing that lasted for hours leading up to the vote became heated at times with shouting between audience members.
"I'm a Richmond resident and of Jewish heritage. I totally oppose this resolution because it is full of lies that will only incentivize the Hamas Nazi terrorists and their supporters and add to the suffering of the poor Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank for decades," one resident said, adding that "this resolution supports the goals of the Palestinian dictatorships to kill all Jews and destroy Israel."
"Please vote no on this resolution," another woman said. "Do not greenlight the endless attempts to kill more Jews."
The Richmond city council is populated with community activists and Marxists. Like Oakland and Berkeley, the Marxists got their way in first with the school boards, and then the city councils, by appealing to minorities and promising to stick it to the man and give the people free stuff.
The majority of the SF East Bay is like that, from San Pablo down to Fremont. The Marxists captured the schools and the city governments. They have the support of the local unions as well.

If you have traveled through the crime ridden dysfunctional city of Richmond, you would quickly notice that they have no right to be critical of Israel or anyone else.
Richmond ranks 11th among the 20 most dangerous cities in California.

Yeah, that I would call this throwing a stone from a house of glass.

Reason: Typo
Perfect example of local politicians overstepping their grounds.
City councils should spend their time focusing on things within their city limits.
International politics are way beyond their purview.
I don't understand the point to this resolution condemning Israel.
One thing that has come out in this latest skirmish is the amount of repressed hate toward Israel.
Yes, this is an International issue, but I would imagine that these members of the city council were chomping at the bit to make their views known. I would also imagine if you looked back at their history you would see that they have been very "Progressive" in other areas as well.
The kicker here is that after they condemn and accuse Israel. They throw in basically "Oh and Hamas should release all of the hostages". Of course, the Liberals will point to that one statement and say "Oh but the resolution condemned both sides equally, they are really neutral"...and many will swallow that hook line and sinker.
That place was a horror to ebay sellers years ago. The packages kept disappearing when they were hitting the sorting facility there. I guess the post office isn't the only shady thing about that town.
