How often have you driven in that area? As a snowbird, I do twice a year, from Florida to Montana. Yeah, it's pretty empty out there. I know the are better than most Americans.

You should look at the Gallup poll on liberalism/conservatism.
They are talking about being self reliant... you know, like our grandparents were.
My VERY conservative small village has a community garden. We have a take a book, give a book library setups all over the village. We have doggie bags so people can pick up after their dog. We allow chickens in the back yard. I can go 1/2 mile out of the village and get my yearly deer, or if I get drawn for a tag, a moose.
Yeah, we will survive. As will my children who have awesome gardens. And if you think that the farmers in the center of America don't want to sell their grain or cattle, you don't know farmers and ranchers. I do.

Yeah, I've driven across Montana, the Dakotas, Kansas, etc. And they don't call it the "Great American Desert" for nothin'.
Western Montana is nice. Rocky Mountains and forests. Eastern Montana is high plains, like the Dakotas. Bleak, barren, and boring. My least favorite section of the entire North American continent.
So a bunch of near empty land where hardly anyone lives is red. Moot point.
You have no idea do you? I live in your “empty land”. We call it Tennessee. We have 6 million people here.....thriving cities and beautiful countryside. What we don’t have is an over abundance of blue haired communists, people living off the state, moral degenerates parading around in public and our public parks DO NOT have human feces in them. Our neighbors in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Kentucky also live in similar good conditions. We like life down here in the “empty land”
You urban leftists need to get out some and see your own country. You can meet real Americans, see where your food comes from and much of your stuff. You can see and visit cities that are safe to walk in, free of human excrement and pleasant to visit. Maybe just maybe a few of you will open your minds to other people’s way of living and stop being so dictatorial. You might like visiting America. When you visit please leave your communist views up north or out west or wherever you came from.

I think you should expand your horizon a bit. I've been in 46 of the 50 States, 8 Presidential Libraries, and I am a Canadian.
