I guess extortion is also a crime. Yet when the IRS send a group of guys with guns to your house to arrest you because you didn't pay your taxes. That's a "civilized" society.

So it's only "criminal" when someone other than government does it. I would argue that supporting the government in any way is support for a criminal organization.
you do realize that the majority of dead black men are killed in the drug "business" right?

The 99% don't have anything worth stealing anyway, so why would they need police?

Speak for yourself, I love cops. We need more cops. I like cops because there are clowns out there who loot, arson, riot, and vandalized private property.

If you think you’re a “revolution†then you go after government stuff, not private property. Liberals are literally looting other liberals.

There won't be privatized police forces

But I think "Robo Cop" was a prophetic movie.

here's your near future police force.......not here yet, but how far can it be.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3RIHnK0_NE

Watch that, and ask yourself, whom do you want in control of that?

I think a better solution would be to restrict the time limit any one person can be a cop, (it will no longer be a career long job), instead, officer positions will be elected in their communities, and the time limit is 2 yrs, and then another person must be elected to fill the position.

This prevents any one person having that much authority for too long, and also, it lets the community decide who should fill the position of officers.

That was a good one

On a serious note, coming back to the topic:
yes, at first private police would be infinitely better than the current public one. Problem is, due to the nature of the capitalism, in a very few short years the most successful company will become a monopoly that no one can take down, and then what? Oh, wait, that's the exact situation we have right now - giant organization that reports to no one but themselves.

So it is mafia now, and will morph into mafia from any starting point. Then, why bother?

The only other real solution that ever was suggested was by anarchists - when every member of the local community is a part-time cop; say, rotating schedule once a month. This might work, but government would never allow it - because why then you would need one?

I am not sure why people think privatized police is cheaper.

When I was in the 82nd airborne division, a lot of the experienced guys left the military to work for private military contractor (PMC) like Blackwater and make 3x more than in the military.
