If we all could go back in time... I think that we can all agree that none of us would have advocated bringing Africans to America as slaves. In fact, it's too bad that the white European explorers visited Africa at all. Too bad that Africa was tainted by those bad European colonialists like the Brits and the Dutch.
Then all of you blacks would be happily living in Africa doing whatever it was you were doing before whitey discovered you. And you could be experiencing this sort of crisis instead:
The point is all the cultures in the world interact with each other at some point or another. And the results are both good and bad. Obviously, the bad is that if one culture is technologically more advanced and sophisticated that the other, they the more primitive culture gets bullied and taken advance of. Always. Whether it's their gold or other natural resources getting taken away, being introduced to new diseases like small pox, or having their women stolen or raped, or their religion taken away and replaced by their conquerors, sh@t happens. At least trust that modern education and science has proven the mental equality between humans of all races. Two hundred years ago, many thought that those in more primitive societies were like that because they lacked the brain capacity to have a more sophisticated society and culture. Of course they were wrong. But science has come a long way in the last two hundred years.
And the good that comes out of two different cultures interacting is that the more primitive one will benefit from the knowledge of the dominant culture. The dominant culture will establish roots in the primitive culture's country and will construct more modern structures. The more dominant culture also introduces modern science, medicine and hygiene. Even missionaries do good work. And I've been to Hong Kong and all the British engineered roads, tunnels and the airport are well designed and built. Better than any place else in China imo. They did the same wherever they colonized.
Look what happened in the South American countries and Spain. Look at the British colonizing India and Hong Kong. Then go way back in time to the days of the Roman Empire reaching out to even England and Germany or the exploits of Alexander the Great. It's not about about race and some eternal battle between blacks and whites, it's about more advanced and powerful civilizations dominating the more primitive ones.

Thanks. We need to study history, not just our own history, but all of human history. We need to accept what's already happened and to try hard to never repeat our mistakes.
For the Chinese, at the time that Marco Polo visited China, we were about equal with those in Europe in some things, we were ahead in inventing ravioli and gunpowder. But we only used gunpowder for fireworks. Being isolated from the rest of the world, we then fell behind in technology over the years. Fast forward to 1899 when there was a conflict between the British and the Chinese... the Brits had guns (powered by our gunpowder) and the Chinese didn't. The rebelling Chinese erroneously thought the power of prayer could protect them from the bullets. Oh well. But you see how the power gets traded back and forth. And how the culture with the most advanced science and knowledge wins.
Maybe that's another reason why Asians cultures place such a high value on their children doing well in school. Knowledge is the ultimate power.
I think another reason why Asians are more passive and willing to assimilate into American society, is that it wastes too much energy to be angry and fighting all the time. The best way to succeed is to accept the circumstances and optimize them. And this is also what many recent immigrants do. Instead of rebelling against American culture, they fit in where they can. If the jobs are low paying, they will work two jobs. They are also willing to work any job, no matter how demeaning it seems. In the city hotels, the whole housekeeping staff are recent immigrants. They are also willing to live in crowded dwellings and saving their money until they can buy a house outright for cash. And whole families will work towards these goals. They have their priorities straight.
