You're on your own kids, school districts all over the country are deciding to get the cops out of the schools. Democrats want them out.

For years, civil rights activists have worked to remove police officers from the nation’s public schools, arguing that they pose a greater risk to students of color than the intruders they’re supposed to guard against. But in the wake of George Floyd’s death, a shift that seemed impossible only a few weeks ago is underway: Several major school systems have canceled their contracts with police, and others are under mounting pressure to do the same.

Within eight days of Floyd’s death in Minneapolis, as the city convulsed with massive demonstrations, school board members there voted unanimously to end the district’s contract with the city police department. The superintendent in Portland, Ore., followed suit two days later.

This week, more dominoes fell. The Denver School Board voted unanimously Thursday night to phase police out of its schools. On Wednesday in Seattle, the school board voted to suspend its contract with police for a year. And in Oakland this week, after police there used tear gas to disperse teens demonstrating for police-free schools, the school board passed the “George Floyd Resolution to Eliminate the Oakland Schools Police Department.” Nearby, the West Contra Costa Unified School District voted unanimously to end its contract with police.

Several other districts are considering similar moves, and others are under pressure to take action: Students in Phoenix have started a petition to remove police from campuses, and young people in New York and Chicago have taken to the streets to demand police-free schools. The Chicago Teachers Union backs their effort.

Where did you get the information that the Denver board is only Democrats? Looking online at the Board Members they are elected but I can't find any mention of party affiliation, please provide a link to the source. Oh yea the link, pay wall.

Yeah, saw that one coming... when the next school shooting happens, which it will, people will blame the police, not the schools for removing them in the first place.

if you're too lazy to do your homework, maybe you shouldn't post at all sparky. The Denver School Board is run by Democrats. Meet the latest additions.

Yo Vern I said where is there party affiliation mentioned? I read the school board links and it doesn't make that distinction maybe you should review your own post. A specific site on Colorado State Politicians does not show up when you search for the Denver School Board...

Good.
Hoping the money can be reallocated for nurses, counselors and others who actually helped the students in their care.

So along with people who no longer want to be cops, we'll see people who no longer want to be teachers in some rough schools.

This is exactly the kind of thing loony liberals do that ends up hurting urban black people - those they keep claiming they're advocating for.

OH yeah this makes perfect sense, in the mind of a Loony Liberal.

In many cases the resource officer serves the kids as someone to look up to. He or she shows that the Police are not people to be feared. The interactions the kids have with them on a daily basis are positive, except of course when one of them does something wrong and needs to be saved from themselves.

And what is going to happen if a student brings a weapon to school?

These feel good knee jerk responsive do gooders will be putting more pressure on the teachers if they remove the resource officers.
