If we are going to erase our past, because it's uncomfortable to us now, how far back do we go, and why?

As a White person, I never had a black slave, or a plantation, nor did my parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents..who came over from Great Britain, and Germany. Slavery is nowhere in my past, that I know of, or that can be found. Am I guilty? Sorry, I'm not feeling it.

Somewhere in my past, only ~40,000 years ago, my ancestors did kill off an entire species of like creatures...AND SO DID YOURS! Homo Sapiens KILLED every last Neanderthal, who didnt die of natural causes. That must have made our riots look like a Sweet 16 party.

If I'm responsible for that, then you are too! How do we right that wrong? Tear down every statue of every Homo Sapien, including the MLK Jr. statue in Downtown Atlanta? Wouldn't every statue in the world need to come down?

Why do we draw the line in early US history, just 300 years ago? Please explain. Very few of us had any past history tied to slavery. I think a lot more Dems are tied to past slavery than Pubs since the Dems didn't want to give up their slaves, and the Pubs had to fight the Dems over it. Should we lock up all those Dems' descendents, and confiscate their stuff, and give it to African-Americans? I'm good with that.

Why aren't the American Indians 1st in line for reparations? Do blacks owe reparations to them? Why not? Blacks benefitted off the lands that were once Native Americans'. Blacks can return to Africa, but the Native Indians cannot take back Harlem.

How far back does implied guilt go, and why? Where does political idealism start, and ancient history end? Why is there a line between them, and please substatiate your contrived historical time line.

Media sure has a lot of influence. People should tune out. Guess what? It goes away.

Refusing to look at research doesn't mean the facts aren't the facts. Neither is denying the facts. But of course people are free to believe or not believe whatever they want.

We uh, got it on with them hence why 20% of their DNA lives on in ours. But generally we just out adapted them, no purposeful eradication.
At least 20% of Neanderthal DNA Is in Humans

But you miss the larger point. Recognizing inequality and wanting to fix that requires no assumption of guilt.

Exactly at one time we thought that we eradicated them, with the use of DNA and the science around it, it turns out everyone has a little Neanderthal DNA with in them....we didn't eradicate them as once thought, we embraced them, mated with them and took them into the Human DNA genome.
But that is not what you are getting at, notnamed makes a good point. wanting to fix inequality requires no assumption of guilt.
And this is all...apples and oranges any way.

What does it mean that I have Neanderthal DNA?
This information is generally reported as a percentage that suggests how much DNA an individual has inherited from these ancestors. The percentage of Neanderthal DNA in modern humans is zero or close to zero in people from African populations, and is about 1 to 2 percent in people of European or Asian background.

It's interesting that most people ignore the immensity of time; both forward, and past.
