Probably because the Sunni have prosecuted the Shiites and Christians for hundreds of years. Or so I've been told by my Chaldean friends that were run out of Iraq.

Default Does the left understand they are the Taliban?

Going around and destroying statues, monuments is erasing history. It's all about destruction, and vandalism, all is does is alienate and divide us.

You are spot on OP. These idiots are just like the Taliban and our elected are like the leaders in the middle east that let terrorists breed, train destroy and kill people while being complacent.

The extreme Left is Americas terrorists.

Imagine driving down the road only to be stopped by idiots blocking the road. If you are tinted you get a pass but the white people are dragged out of their cars and beaten or worse. This is not that far fetched when the mob mentality takes over and the Police are no where to be found because the "leaders" told them to stand down.

The only thing the fools don't have is the religious fervor to sacrifice themselves with a suicide vest. Thankfully they also seem to lack the knowledge, so far, to construct bigger more powerful bombs so the gas bombs will have to do for now.

Obama didn't take the "JV team" isis seriously and look what happened. Trump is taking these domestic terrorists seriously and the Democrat mayor in Seattle is telling him to stay in his bunker.

We live in a Bizzaro world and the Democrats are driving it.

If it quacks like a duck...
The allegation is fairly accurate for how the political left is acting these days. They want to ban, censor, or tear down anything that is even slightly offensive to them.

They're tearing down Columbus, Jefferson, and Conquistador statues that have nothing to do with the confederacy. They attempt to get conservative or alternative speakers banned from speaking at college campuses. They're literally acting like the Taliban.

The Taliban's acts of cultural vandalism - the most infamous being the destruction of the giant Bamiyan Buddhas - had a devastating effect on Afghan culture and the artistic scene. The Taliban burned countless films, VCRs, music tapes, books, and paintings. They jailed filmmakers, musicians, painters, and sculptors.
Khaled Hosseini

If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly.
Thomas Sowell

Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. I am not unmindful of the fact that violence often brings about momentary results. Nations have frequently won their independence in battle. But in spite of temporary victories, violence never brings permanent peace.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

The limitation of riots, moral questions aside, is that they cannot win and their participants know it. Hence, rioting is not revolutionary but reactionary because it invites defeat. It involves an emotional catharsis, but it must be followed by a sense of futility.

And what amazes me the most is that the political left accuses Trump of causing division, while they are the ones out there rioting, tearing down statues, calling Trump supporters deplorable. It has been nothing but hostility from the left for the past 4 years, and it's only become worse with each passing year.

The political left always tries to project their worst qualities onto whomever opposes them. They call people "nazis" when they're the ones acting like nazis. They call people racist but they shame blacks and call them "uncle Tom's" if they won't accept the leftwing kool-aid. They call people "fascist" when they're the ones who are trying to censor opposing opinions, tear down statues, and ban speakers from college campuses.

Throughout history we have see these types of action repeat over and over. The various nations and civilizations destroyed statues and forms of media and expression which does not represent the nation or civilization or supposed to em-better society as a whole. When the Byzantines destroyed Christian statues and Christian Paintings due god not liking images in his light even though religious paintings and images are part and a hallmark of the European tradition. Arabs and Christian wars destroyed each other religious objects and texts of their minority populations. During the American Revolution. Rebel colonist thrown down statues of British Royals such as King George the 3rd In Manhattan. Nazis and Soviets participated in Book burnings when their regimes came online during the early 20th century. Chinese Red Guard and Chinese academics destroyed traditional Chinese texts, statues an religious Chinese symbols. During the early 21st century Taliban destroyed giant Buddhist statues in Afghanistan which did not represent their extreme version of Islam. A few years ago Isis destroyed Assyrian, Greco/Roman and Babylonian, Persian images that were located in museums which represent past heritages of Syria and Iraq.

Even though they are all politically different. BLM, Nazis, Isis, Taliban and Communists want to destroy imagery which do not represent their ideology and view certain imagery as harm to society and such imagery is false.

Also note this is not a left wing thing to do either. The Right can also destroy imagery, texts and statues which do not represent their ideology.

What do communist nazis BLM isis and taliban have in common? They are all minority sized controlled poltical groups and do not represent the majority of the population. Remember tyranny of the minority.

Through their silence, mainstream American Democrats are approving of what the left wing domestic terrorists are doing.
