Security for me but not for thee.

Three members of the Minneapolis City Council who voted to eliminate the local police force are being protected by a private security detail that costs taxpayers $4,500 a day.

News of the arrangement broke Friday, the same day that the council voted 12-0 to abolish the Minneapolis Police Department in the wake of the killing of George Floyd.

Eh, this is a Dem problem. It's what they voted for.

We should privatize the police. Good way to break the public unions that keep bad cops on the force and shield them from liability. Hell this outcome is what Republicans have been openly calling for for years but now they mock/condemn it.

I know. They should change their minds. But it seems like they're not smart enough to figure out that they're voting against their own interests.

When things go sour they can blame it on Trump.

That's called a private mafia security force. No thank you. Public Police are a good thing, and we don't have a problem-cop problem. We have a crime problem. Lower the PUBLIC crime problem to where we don't need much Police and then we can talk about the wisdom of privatization. Otherwise, feel free to run your experiments that we have already long ago run and abandoned on a private island somewhere. You can afford it, right?

You have to wonder who the hell votes these people in to office.

As fore defunding the police wouldn't that mean an end to protection for minority groups and no one to uphold hate crime laws.

Wow. I used to like Minnesota. Born and raised one state away from them and I had relatives and friends there. Any Minnesotans I know now are desperately looking to leave the state.
