"To be called a racist, or even to be successfully labeled one even when you're not, is something to be feared in America."
So a commentator on TV remarked yesterday. And, possibly inadvertently, he identified the most powerful weapon used by liberals for the last few decades.
And it's a weapon being used en masse by rioters, looters, thugs, media announcers, and politicians.
Somebody disagrees with you? Call him a racist. No need to prove that he is one. Or even supply any evidence. Even if he is plainly not a racist at all, you can still spread the word that he is one. And today it's just a matter of time before he is fired from his job, and/or a mob zeros in on him and starts smashing his windows, breaking into his store, threatening his home and family, and maybe injures or kills him.
And most of the time the media will chime right in, describing that people think he's a racist, and saying that racists deserve nothing better. And if he calls the police, nobody will show up. He's on his own against the mobs and the media. And even if he's done nothing wrong, that will be lost in the frenzy
The message to him will be clear: Do what we say, and don't even think about resisting or fighting back, or you will suffer consequences you never would have dreamed possible even a month ago. And there's not a thing you can do to stop it.
Cities are defunding their police departments or outright shutting them down, to avoid the fury of the mobs. Entire city blocks are being vandalized, looted, and burned, and police are nowhere to be found.
People who led normal lives just a short while ago, doing their jobs, discussing their opinions, hashing out problems etc., will suddenly be afraid to stick their noses outside. If they speak out against the rioters, presto, they are called racists, and can expect a visit from the mob (or several visits). Nobody has to tell the mob what to do. They cruise the streets indiscriminately today, looking for anyone who objects, and intimidating, threatening, injuring or even killing them. Immune to any police response, it's just a matter of time before they find you out.
"To be called a racist, or even to be successfully labeled one even when you're not, is something to be feared in America."
And it's never been clearer than in the last few weeks.
This was commonly the case in primitive societies and third-world countries.
And now it's spread into our cities and neighborhoods.
