The pregame festivities during Week 1 of this year’s NFL season are reportedly going to include a new song.
The NFL is planning to have “Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing,” widely known as the Black national anthem, performed at its season openers this fall, according to ESPN’s Jason Reid. The song will reportedly be played before the “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The NFL is also reportedly considering other measures for the season to recognize victims of police brutality. That could reportedly include listing names of victims on uniforms through helmet decals or jersey patches, as well as educational programs.
I think it's smart politics for sports leagues to have a "message minute" before each game, then just get on with the match. By doing so you eliminate cultural issues as a distraction, and make the league look culturally sensitive and socially relevant.

Never heard of it. And I've been playing in Marching bands, including every National Anthem for every visiting country (yes, and for the U.S.), for the last 50 years.
The U.S. does not have a "Black National Anthem".
Or a "White National Anthem".
Or a "Tall People's National Anthem".
Or a "Women's National Anthem".
Or a "Lefthanders' National Anthem".
Or a "Baldies' National Anthem".
Anything that's for a select group out of the population, is not "National" at all, by definition.
If you're a U.S. citizen, "The Star-Spangled Banner" is your national anthem.
Don't like it? Write your Congressman. Until Congress and the Prez change it, it's your National Anthem.
I'll make sure to take a knee when its played, I already barely watched the NFL the last few seasons this makes sure I won't watch it at all this season. I'll stick with College ball.
