First week with no daily deaths exceeding 800 since March. The daily death rate continues its downward trend, which started about the time we started "opening up".

Granted, some day that may change, to the glee of liberals everywhere. But today is not that day.

Yes, the declining deaths is a good thing:

-Perhaps the initial wave of infections disproportionately reached more patients with weaker immune systems, including those in nursing homes, or more vulnerable Americans who hadn’t yet taken up effective social distancing.

-And there is evidence to suggest that the more recent waves of infections are reaching younger and healthier people who are better able to survive an infection.

-Finally, there are better treatment options and care management for Covid-19 patients who do come down with severe illness.

Still, as you know deaths are a lagging indicator.

In all likelihood the numbers of new daily deaths will not revert to what they were in March/April because of the mitigating factors mentioned above. But this is one of the few coronavirus measurements that we can point to with optimism.

This is a very silly comment. I think you said you are an engineer. You have to be rational to be a good engineer.

So I'll chalk this comment up to too many pre-Fourth of July party favors or too much political kool-aid which is often more blinding than any fermented beverage.

Let's hope the trend is our friend and doesn't reverse itself soon. If the deaths continue to decline through the rest of July, we will know the recent spike isn't going to result in increased deaths and maybe the virus is less dangerous now.

We'll see what happens with the huge influx of daily new cases which began about June 19th (2 weeks ago).

One can only hope that the death count remains relatively low but you also have to keep an eye on hospitalizations and then permanent damage for the survivors.

So yeah...

1. Avoid death.
2. Avoid permanent damage.
3. Avoid hospitalization.
4. Avoid giving it.
5. Avoid getting it.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Well, another milestone today. Fewest deaths in a day since this bug started. Not that you'll hear it on the MSM.

The huge spike in daily new cases is definitely worthy of media attention but you're right...it wouldn't kill them to mention how the daily death toll is steadily going down to these record-low levels.

Just a 10-second blurb would do. They are on tv 24/7 so I think they can squeeze it in.

Today's death rate is higher than the last two Tuesdays . Is this a start to the reversal of the declining death rate or just a one day catch up in deaths that were even less counted than normal weekends due to the 4th of July holiday?

The people who predicted a spike in cases are predicting a spike in deaths to follow.

Yet that's not happening?

Most of those number that now have cv19 were tested 7-14 days ago?

Now, for everyone interested, what makes a "pandemic" or an "epidemic" is it the amount of "said disease" or is it the amount of "deaths" or the number who got the "said disease"?

There is a reason you are not being told about the amount of daily deaths....

We’re almost at 130,000 deaths, on trump’s watch, with cases spiking. Deaths unfortunately will increase as infection spreads.
