I think that Govt. should not impose a woman to having a child she does not want. Abortions have always been, or the quiet death by a pillow or the baby was drowned. If you look at the bible, many babies were eaten during famine or offered to the gods or sold as slaves. Its not all pretty like we want to believe. I prefer BOTH male and female birth control- and total castration for sexual pervs. But in our country, the rapist has rights to the child he forced to come into this world. How is that good?? In the end, leave it up to the mother -and let her settle that with her god.

Voting based on a presidential candidate's stance on abortion is foolish. Abortion will never become illegal in the US, given the legal hurdles it would take to overturn existing decisions. A president will never be able to actually change anything regarding reproductive rights. Abortion should be treated as a non-issue when it comes to what presidential candidate to vote for.

Pro-Lifers that use religion as their argument are pretty much admitting that they don't believe in God.

If there was a god, he'd handle the punishment for those that get an abortion, right? So why exactly are pro-lifers getting involved? Is it because they think there is no god? There will be no eternal damnation for the baby killers?

Don't get involved in other people's lives. Let God sort it out. Do they really want to be in heaven with baby killers anyway?

A child has NO say in who their parents are.

Same reason some Christians get involved in humanitarian aid, with addicts, prisoners', and all sinners. Its not they believe God cant sort it out or not wanting to punish anyone but prevent the commitment of what they consider a sin, to preserve what they consider a life. Many Christians believe it is their task to not only spread the word of God but to help others.

Hate the sin, love the sinner. Judge not. If we accept Gods grace, as we are all sinners, we must also show grace to others.

I went to a private international religious institute when I was a young girl. My personal opinion is that Christians should not participate in an abortion "debate" in a forum like this one. Nothing good is going to come out of it.

In the U.S. at least, abortion is a political issue.

I do not identify as Christian, but that late term abortion ruling made me switch from pro-choice to pro-life.

There was so much I just didn't know about abortion until I began researching.

I suggest people begin educating themselves on this practice.

I am Christian, but if this were purely a religious question it would be a no-brainer: we don't make our laws according to any religion. Each person should be able to choose according to their religion and conscience.

However, it is not just a religious issue. It is a basic human rights issue - the right all persons have to not be killed, versus the right all persons have to control their own body. Personally I feel the fetus is a human person and that the right to live supercedes all other rights. However, since there is no consensus in the country around that question, I am in favor of keeping abortion legal. It is also self-evident that personhood does not have a definite boundary - a 6-week old fetus is not the same as a late-term baby.

So what literature did you use to educate yourself? I read the actual legislation on late term abortion and it basically just changed the need for approval of two physicians and made it clear a certified person preforming an abortion cant be charged with murder. All other state laws remained like requirements that continuing the pregnancy would cause great medical risk to the mothers life and that there had to be a fetal conditions in which the child would not survive otherwise cut offs remained.
I have also read interviews with couples who had to make the hard decision to abort due to these reasons, couples who did not and lost the mother, the baby or both. I also know couples who chose to carry the dead or dying fetus only to bury it days after delivery.

Is there something I'm missing?
