As usual Trump Tweets nonsense with no plan or facts and his supporters take a stand.

A stand which is crazy. Anyone who has raised children knows that viruses spread quickly through school building's.

Trump, having never raised his kids, has no idea what needs to be done.

I am still wondering what political reasons would Dems have to keep schools shut. It does not seem to benefit them one way or the other.

The only reason to keep them shut is to protect the kids if the situation is still bad, or worse at the time of opening.

The only political gain here is to allow Trump to make another mistake by an ill-informed and rushed opening of the schools followed by mass-infection among school kids. They should ask Trump if he will own the responsibility of things going wrong , but we all know he'll blame anyone but himself.

The common sense thing to do is monitor the situation until its time to re-open and then make the final call based on risk-assessment. Maybe some States, or counties within States can re-open while some others should not. You would think politicians from both parties can see that.

Dr. Fauci and the President of the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend returning the kids to school. So 8f you are inclined to follow your own advice, you will support the reopening of the schools next month as well.

If all you have is an on/off switch. We need a dimmer switch approach where we can make adjustments as circumstances change.

Unless you just like making hyperbolic statements.

Because there is an anti-intellectual and anti-elite bent to the populace, with value of the “everyman” trumping everything else. Common sense does not solve all problems, contrary to what the populace tends to believe. Solutions to challenging and enduring problems are almost never as simple as black and white thinking and require a detailed and nuanced way of compiling information, weighing and analyzing information from different sources, and creating solutions.

It’s not a job for someone with average intelligence and that “talks like me in a way I can understand, and tells it like it is.”

I strongly support the President and agree that the Dems are evilly politically motivated with everything they do, but it's insanity to reopen schools anytime soon. Talk about the fastest and most effective way to infect every last citizen.

Nope, can't do it. For the same reasons indoor dining and so much else is still closed. Except that schools re-opening would dwarf the effect of restaurants, theaters, etc.

AND, I'm not so sure we wouldn't be better off long term to end what public schooling has deteriorated to in the last 30 years. Now is the perfect time to reassess that damage and the best way forward for education from the ground up. That best way is NOT what we have been doing lately.

Rich people aren’t affected by lockdowns and school closures.
I see what you did there. Are you saying that people of color can't be liberals and progressives who can make their own choices?

There has never been such a disaster as Trump. Now he thinks he knows more than the doctors? Take trumps advice if you dare. He’s the one promoting drinking bleach. Good Luck!

Look at it this way...A child is in middle or high school. They have eight periods a day with eight different teachers and 8 different groups of children. Say one child gets the virus. That means 8 classes of children and 8 teachers will need to be quarantined. And that's only with one child getting the virus. What if two or three kids in totally different classes get it? This has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. It has nothing to do with getting Trump re-elected or throwing him on the trash heap. It has to do with the health and safety of the children and their teachers.
