Perhaps the most striking thing about the Stone commutation is that it is not out of the ordinary for Trump — it is part of a deviant pattern from this president. As Harvard Law School professor Jack Goldsmith observed, Trump has issued a record-low number of pardons and commutations for the modern presidency, a remarkably high percentage of which were granted to a personal or political associate — 31 of 36 by the count of Goldsmith and Lawfare intern Matt Gluck.
“No president in American history,” they write, “comes close to matching Trump’s systematically self-serving use of the pardon power.”

So he probably pardoned fewer associates than anyone else, but it was a higher percentage.
And I'm betting they don't give numbers on anyone else.
The article below says that Stone had been sentenced to jail "for lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing the House investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia".
All of those things happened during the investigation right? In fact, they happened as a direct result OF the investigation, didn't they? If there had been no investigation, there would have been nothing for Stone to lie about, tamper with, or obstruct.
Sounds like, if there had been no investigation, Stone would have done NOTHING WRONG AT ALL.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday commuted the sentence of his longtime political confidant Roger Stone, intervening in extraordinary fashion in a criminal case that was central to the Russia investigation and that concerned the president’s own conduct.
The move came just days before Stone was to begin serving a 40-month prison sentence for lying to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing the House investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.
The problem with this kind of logic is that its like saying if the bank never existed, the defendant could never have robbed it. Or if the murder victim had never been born, then the murderer could never have committed the act.
It happened, he was found guilty in court of law for his crimes, he got sentence commuted and the swamp grows ever deeper. We are becoming ever more the biggest banana republic ever. Corruption galore and half the population applaud it and want MORE CORRUPTION. Its the end of the empire.
This should have happened sooner....every Republican convicted by the Leftist cabal for no reason other than they're Republicans should all be freed asap. The Fake Russian Collusion delusion event needs to trigger a response to prosecute the treasonous actions of the many Leftists involved in the effort to overthrow the Presidency.

Even Trump's AG Barr, conceded that Stone's “prosecution was righteous,” before Trump on Friday simply set Stone free.
There is no doubt about Roger Stone’s guilt.
During the 2016 presidential race, he was the liaison between the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks. You know, WikiLeaks, the website which had become a front for the Kremlin, and the Trump campaign. The website that Russian intelligence used to publish stolen Democratic Party e-mails to help Trump win the presidency.
Stone refused to testify about what he knew; he perjured himself and obstructed justice to protect the president. A jury concluded that Stone obstructed Congress, lied to investigators and tampered with a witness. “Covering up for the president,” as the judge in his case noted.
And now Trump has rewarded him for his silence. The quid pro quo is obvious. Only the see no evil/hear no evil 5th Avenue gang are able to choke out their lies for con man Don, who sings that hollow Law & Order tune. You know the one that more and more Americans are recognizing as perfectly phony.
