It always starts with something and then escalates. In this case it started with the n-word, and escalated until guns came out (both sides) and shots were fired. I doubt she was the one using the n-word, but she is the one who was struck by the bullet.
You sure have a funny interpretation of the book. Cancel culture WAS the law in the world of Orwell's 1984. Anything that did not conform to the desired narrative went down the memory hole -- cancelled.
And to think. Orwell was a national socialist and perceived these types of results from authoritarian type regimes...kind of like the one Trump and Barr envision.
You lack the power of introspection.
If you knew anything about Orwell, his writings were directed toward communism, although he was an ardent opponent of fascism as well.
Today's left is EXACTLY what Orwell had warned about. However, the left misunderstands "1984"- it is a WARNING, not an INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
Witness:
1. banning books
2. burning books
3. restrictions of free speech
4. PC language designed to intimidate ("newspeak")
5. violent shock troops (ANTIFA and BLM)
6. cancel culture
7. "ministries of truth"
8. revisionist history
It amazing how blind the left has become and they do not realize that THEY are the totalitarian forces of evil that Orwell warned us about.
Read a few biographies about Orwell- you might learn something.
Cancel Culture now trying to Cancel George Orwell. Why not cancel the guy who predicted cancel culture decades ago?
The left has gone insane, and every leftist on this board is willing to go along with it.
Instead of starting a new thread each time I'm going to post examples of over reaching cancel culture here in this thread. Please feel free to post other examples you see of it here as well.
I stopped listening after 5 seconds, when he said "the Left" has learned something. So tired of posters on this forum going on about "the Left, the Left", as though the left were some kind of monolithic organization, and you keep telling us what people on "the Left" think, what they want, what their goals are and how they plan to achieve them. It's sad! If there are things going on you don't like, fine, say that, but spare me the attribution of this vague, nefarious force called "the Left". Or better yet, focus more on what "the Right" wants or thinks.

This for me is the extreme right all the way.
I've sat on committees that have to address folks wanting to ban books. In 20 years the ONLY people who EVER spoke up were conservatives, religious zealots. Had to fight for everything from Harry Potter to board books on looking after the environment. Conservatives objected to it all.
Free speech vs. hate speech -- will never have a resolution.
Violent shock troops -- Proud Boys, KKK, Boogaloos (name comes from racist meme), Renaissance Horizon,
Dixie Republic, American Patriots USA, etc. etc. etc.
cancel culture.....Trump has actively pursued canceling Amazon -- you can't get more cancel culture than the Republican President trying to destroy a business to get back at a man who owns the biggest share in a media outlet that attacks Trump.
Ministries of truth -- Talk radio, Fox News. Conservatives proudly boast of their effective propaganda machines and their ratings...what?
Revisionist history -- every time someone talks about facts in history, the right screams they are unpatriotic.
Maybe living in the south I have a different perspective but your perception is not my experience at all.
