Trump has shown interest is aquiring Greenland and "selling" Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico has costed US taxpayer in the States trillions of dollars and its a territory the US never wanted. The presense of the US Navy in PR has diminished significantly. Cultures between the US and Puerto Rico are very different that assimilation is near impossible. Puerto Rico will never vote for statehood, which would require them to pay Federal Taxes. The country has only been a parasite to the United States.
Greenland on the hand offers the US military logistical points to Europe and Asia. Its rich in resources such as rare minerals, oil and gas that will be needed by Americans in the future. Plus the beautiful landscapes
could be opened by American entrepreneurship as another frontier which have never been exposed to the world.
Denmark no longer has any footprint in the Carribean which they could use for tourism.
I'm not seeing what possible benefit Denmark could derive from such a deal. If we're going to sell Puerto Rico -- which, by the way, I would love to do -- a more likely buyer would be a country with an Hispanic majority population. I think we should offer PR for $1.00, under the provision that the buyer assumes all the costs of running the place, and the U.S. washes its hands of them forever.

Sure. Although I prefer Puerto Rico just be given its independence or given to Spain etc.

Agreed. Let Mexico or Central America buy it. Good riddance!
Puerto Rico is a musical giant which can do wonders for U.S soft power in Latin America. The growth of Reggaeton which lead to the most popular song in the world Despacito- which has 2 Puerto Rican’s on it and was made in the U.S is the most popular song of all time by a very large margin.
Also Greenland has native people who aren’t American citizens it s basically empty but the U.S government would have to do a long list of things to even get Greenland to the point where it’s resources could get exploited. Think about it the same way you think about Native lands in America. Greenlanders aren’t just Danes but folks whose people have lived there for 100s of years.
