On May 29, George Floyd protests in New York City devolved into looting, riots, and arson. Between May 29 and June 9, looters and rioters damaged more than 450 businesses. During that lawless destruction, the NYPD union president blamed Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) and Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) for publicly attacking police and for not sending reinforcements to restore order. Now, at least one business is filing a lawsuit to hold them accountable.

Domus Design Center (DDC) on 134 Madison Ave has filed a lawsuit claiming that Cuomo, de Blasio, the NYPD, and others failed to do their jobs to protect the people of New York from lawless looters and rioters, The New York Post reported. Sal Strazzullo, the lawyer who represents DDC, predicts the case will become a class-action and the damages will reach $100 million.
Lets hope this happens! These scumbags need to be held personally responsible for the harm and destruction they empowered the savages to commit on the city.

There is no evidence that protesters were responsible. There is evidence that opportunist criminals took advantage.

In any case, courts have repeatedly ruled that officials are not liable for crime losses.

There's no case like this on the Federal docket.
There are quite a few individuals who are charged with incitement to riot, but none of them are public officials.

With the courts all shut down due to the virus, I wouldn't expect this case to go veery far this year. There's still much crime that hasn't been heard in court that was committed last March.

I'm good with that. The BLM organization is organizing the riots; they should be held accountable as well. And they have millions in donations. The Marxist founders have made a fortune off this scam.

This is not about protesters vs rioters (not mutually exclusive catagories)

Should the government be responsible if they instructed the police to not intervene?
