In a move designed to reverse declining poll numbers among suburban voters DT has ordered HUD to cease totally rules put in place during Obama administration meant to bust the suburbs.

It isn't going to help him remain in office, but am sure places like Garden City, Long Island are happy.

I don't live in a suburb, but I support stopping this program because it was federal overreach. Communities get to decide what they want and where they want it. Not some arbitrary federal policy.

So this is about whether or not to force communities to rezone current existing building zones from single family dwellings to large apartment complexes?

Hmmm. People buy houses in communities based on their preferences for how they prefer to live, and I wouldn't be comfortable changing those zoning rules from single family dwellings to large communal units, or residential to commercial either.

Once an area is zoned a specific way, and people purchase property in that zone, I can see them having a say in whether to rezone.

It's not every day that I agree with you, but I certainly do in this case.

You're trying to insinuate that people who live in suburbs are racist. Ridiculous.

Many people want lower density in both people and buildings. Many want closer access to recreational areas.

Many have worked very hard to be able to rent or own in suburbs for a quieter lifestyle. There are fewer entertainment opportunities in suburbs. There are often fewer cultural events (music, plays, lectures, museums).

Thankfully, we get to choose where we live for the most part.

Did you know most suburbs are racially and economically diverse?

You're a bigot.

I don’t live near Black people and after the last three months, I’ve decided that I never want to live near Black people or large concentrations of white young adults who have failed at life and live with their parents.

Not at all - I was asking a question. Your insinuation is off base. In some places everything is diverse. Not in all and not all suburbs are equal. Say FL to NY or Ca
