It's an election year and combined with Covid, I think people are more isolated and taking in huge quantities of the normal right and left divisive propaganda than normal.

So, I'm making this anonymous because I'd like honest answers and also am not making it partisan etc.

1-3 hours. Watch Tucker Carlson each night, and then consume other random info from places as varied as this site to the internet to other cable news. A whole lot less than I used to.

Used to devour political news because I've always found it fascinating (in hindsight I think I missed a calling somewhere) but the topic is so toxic, filled with biases on both sides, and energy sucking, that I consciously limit exposure now. Life is too short to get pulled down into a vortex of crazy-making hate.

Politics forum? Yep but maybe not all of it as it's not all politics. Use your best judgment.

As a point of reference, I have an elderly aunt who has the news on, much of it politics almost the entire time she is awake. Granted at this point she probably snoozes through a lot of that lol but she would be in the 9+ category.

I voted and after thinking about it between this forum, having the radio tuned to Right Wing talk, occasionally NPR for a bit of balance and if my wife has the news on TV in the evening I hear more political angles/propaganda than I care to admit but then again what is not political these days?

We are all bombarded by it.

I would say I likely spend about 2 hours a day consuming political news directly, and another 4 consuming it indirectly. For instance, FOX is almost always on as background noise at the house, and if there is something that catches my ear I will stop to watch it. Also, I flip over to City-Data politics forum several times through the work day just to change up the pace a little and take a break. Much of my work is done remotely now, so I would say my exposure to politics has increased since COVID began.

Less than 1 hour..... (Closer to 0) I have learned to trust my own judgement of things and not let news on TV control how I feel.....

Come on, now. I know there's at least one or two people who belong in the 9+ hours category.

No TV, the only radio station I can get only has about 2 minutes of news on the hour and the half hour.

I do have internet so I peruse some sites to see what the latest spin is. Since all the major newspapers in my state are owned by one corporation, you read one you've read them all aside from a couple very local stories like obituaries. So I'll look quickly just to see what's being pushed as "news" for the day.

I do access city-data a few times a day, but aside from checking the weather and livestock/crop prices, and seeing what the local city council has been up to, I don't consume a lot of what passes for news these days. I'm a long way from any population center that would draw the attention of any political animals, so about the only election propaganda I see is some signage.

We know our local politicians, we see them all the time so we can ask them what's going on without a "journalist" interpreting it for us. Heck in my state you can walk into the capital, go to their office and speak to the governor or secretary of state if you want.

Makes for a much nicer day when you get your news direct.
