Actually that's Egypt's playbook.

I always find it funny that people can recognize how the smugglers (mostly drugs) are nearly impossible to stop and keep finding new ways to get around enforcement.

But then they think that with 75% of the gun violence in urban areas being gang\drug related that.....they can stop that with their own attempts at enforcement.

(Oh and vice-versa applies).

The wall is a symbolic gesture as most just overstay visas. If you really wanted to get serious about it, then put stiff enforcement and penalties on those that hire illegals.

Or better yet, have a guest worker program like Canada.

Could very well be Egypt's as well but since I don't know anyone in Egypt's military, I went with what I know, which is Israel.

I guess the US will have to rethink the direction of it's intended fence and head downwards.

Earlier this year another tunnel was discovered in the greater Tucson area. It was the 126th tunnel discovered over the past 30 years. It originated in a drainage system on the Mexico side and like most tunnels, was discovered on the Mexico side of the border.

The US demand for drugs is insatiable and the supply chain evolves to accommodate it.

There is an unlimited number of seasonal agriculture visas. Nonetheless, there remains a preference for undocumented labor. Guest worker visas require the employer to pay at least $10/ hr, provide housing, healthcare and access to meals. Such visas also allow the worker to bring his/ her spouse and children.

Of course not all undocumented people seek out agriculture work.

Only a handful of states mandate e- Verify. Those that do created intentional loopholes for independent contractors and those employed before e-Verify took effect.

Big box routinely uses E-Verify, regardless of state mandate. It’s small business that employs most undocumented people.
