I don't understand Americans.
You have the absolute freedom to order your life in any fashion you want. So do it.
Nothing is stopping you and any number of like minded people from banding together, getting some land and pooling your resources to live communally and "each according to their ability and need."
Go do it. Be a communist! Go to work, and then share your money with the group. Or, build something and own the means of production. Or be self-sufficient on a farmstead. Nobody will bother you if you stick to yourselves. Like the Amish.
Trump is already leading the US to the path of communism, look at the latest with the PO scandal and with blood on his hands, 172,000 deaths, plus his violation's of the Constitution and oath of office.
His authoritarian ruling is next to communism. And Putin is his mentor.
Get a grip. The Post Office has been removing mailboxes since 2000, when we about 365,000.
Now we have about 142,000 mailboxes. Why? Because the volume of first-class mail has been dropping like a rock for years.
In 2010 there were 77 billion pieces of first-class mail; last year there were 54 billion.
Critical thinking is your friend, but go ahead and believe your Democrat and MSM masters about the Trump Post Office conspiracy theory.
I would argue that there has never been a truly Communist country.
'Pure' Communism is a completely collective society and economy. In theory it is a stateless and classless society where everyone works towards the same collective goal of being healthy and happy by doing what they can to contribute and only taking what they need in return.
Every country that has ever been labeled Communist is actually a Socialist country with a State and self-serving Leaders (an Elite Class). And there has really never been a truly collective economy - even though many Socialist countries have controlled production, distribution, and property, there are/were many who have/had aspects of Capitalism.
I grew up in the USSR, been there, done that, no thanks.
If it came to that, I would face a choice of do I move, or do I fight and possibly die doing so, because there is no way in hell I am living like that again.
No way am I in favor of communism. But since you grew up there, I am curious. I have read that a lot of older people in Russia actually long for the "good old days" under communism. Is this true? Perhaps the system that replaced it, a dictatorship with rampant corruption and organized crime, is not much better.
I would argue that there has never been a truly Communist country.

Good god, not this stuff again...
This is like the debate in academics regarding the US that the only true conservatives are monarchists, and everyone else is a liberal, and academically, they are correct. Reality, ideology, and politically, they are not correct because reality and basically applied economics and politics are what people debate and are guided by.
Academics like this are usually kept inside the confines of universities, lol. We can get into philosophy and get real extreme as well.
Fact is, the USSR was a communist government, sure, it did not fulfill 100% of everything Marx described as would be a communist society, but failing to meet this 100% goal does not make one not a communist all of a sudden.
Communism is so brutal because it goes against human nature, so to keep people in line, it has to be brutal.
I would argue that there has never been a truly Communist country.

First of all, communism is the most widely experimented ideology. It has been tried by different countries, geographics, cultures, and languages. To say there has never be a true communist country is historically ignorant.
Secondly, "I know what you think. You think with your superior understanding of Marxism than everybody else. If you were in charge, you would usher in the utopia." - Jordan Peterson.
Lastly, anybody who supports communism is the worst scum of all humanity. There has never been anything more evil than communism throughout the human history.
