Good question. I have been starting to do some research on other places and asking around for ideas just in case. But luckliy I do not think I need to worry about going.
I don't think you have to worry about it either.
I asked you that question, because I sometimes come across conservative Americans, either online (like here on CD), or IRL, complaining about the US becoming "socialist" or "communist." But then they talk about going to Canada, Europe, Australia, or New Zealand, all of which are great places, but considerably more left-wing by US standards.
So, I'm always very curious when I hear an American conservative say they consider going elsewhere.
To the east there is a massive swamp of commie blocs.
The west is commercialized and more and more globalized.
I here Romania is nice but I've never been there. Either way private equity has made sure any non-competitive stable society will be run out of business as operating costs skyrocket and people rush to the made in china carnival.
The dismal life under Communism and it's endless planning and committees has now thankfully gone.
In terms of the Western Europe, it has better workers rights and benefits than many parts of the world coupled with universal health care in most countries.
It is also no more commercial than any other part of the world, and is certainly a lot more pleasant to live in than Communist China.
no, I get depressed when I walk anywhere and the language I hear most is anything but English.
I'm not sure where you're from but here in the NYC metro area (which includes NJ/CT/LI/westchester), I feel I have very little in common with the average "american". we no longer share the same culture, language, ideals and goals. we're no longer neighborly with each other. people keep to themselves or their ethnic enclaves.
we're all pitted against each other whether it's black vs white, christian vs muslim, male vs female, left vs right.
we're really not the United States anymore... we're just States.
maybe this is different in other parts of the country.
Black vs White, Jew vs Christian, people in America have been pitted against each other from day one. Just read about the history of this country. Even when people had more in common with each other, there were race riots, violence, etc. It was never pollyana as you try to make it seem. We were never truly united. And it's like this in the South. Go look at the Confederate flag issue.
I love living in America, I love my country. I also love living where I do now. My money goes a lot farther and I live very well. It was Obama care and the disaster it created that made me relocate to another country. Our Health care system is almost as screwed up as the democratic and Republican parties.
Be careful being a pedestrian. Last November, a friend of mine got run down and killed by a car while trying to cross busy 23rd St. in Oklahoma City.
I'm very sorry about what happened. I've come close to being hit by cars while walking as well. It leaves me thinking about this. When did American cities start being more unwalkable?

Admit it, you were thinking of Canada but didn't know their government is left-wing.

With over 1 million people legally moving to America every year, and a similar number just jumping the border, it sounds like it's still the place to be.

The illegal border jumpers need to be stopped from entering the United States.
But it is true that no amount of complaining on the internet or in real life will change the fact much of the world is desperate to come to the United States. They don't call it "first world problems" for nothing.

I hear Romania is very beautiful.
