well, i'm an LEO and all my coworkers are LEOs (obviously). They all think Kyle is in the right.
He violated multiple laws just being there with the firearm at his age. Which throws into question whether he is even eligible for a self defense claim as he was engaged in criminal activity.

After work, helped clean graffiti off of the local school.

Goes about with a medical kit, helping the injured on both sides.
When BLM was pushing a flaming dumpster toward a gas station, Kyle ran up with a fire extinguisher and put out the fire.
The police tell everyone to go home and everyone disperses.
Several of the BLM mob notice as Kyle is leaving that he's alone, so they come for him.
One guy throws a brick/other heavy object in a plastic bag at Kyle and charges at him from behind.
Another guy shoots a gun behind Kyle.
Kyle turns, sees the guy charging towards him and shoots him.
Kyle checks on his downed attacker to see if he can do anything, while calling the police.
More of the mob charges him, so he flees.
The mob knocks him to the ground.
Kyle gets kicked in the face, bashed over the head with a skateboard and one of the mob tries to take his gun.
He shoots the guy attacking him with a skateboard.
He notices another mob member pointing a gun at him.
He shoots the guy with the gun in the arm.
The mob stops attacking him.
Kyle makes a b-line for the police with his hands up and tries to turn himself in.
The police tell him to keep moving, so he goes home and turns himself in to Antioch PD.
