eh, I debate that. those who knew him say no, certain media figures say yes. hard to decide whom to believe. <---that was sarcasm

he said he was diagnosed 6 years out of office and died 10 later. his diagnosis/death span of 10 years is a bit over the average of 4-8 years so 16 years would be a serious out of bounds marker.

But the comparo of ANY interaction with Reagan *in* office is night and day with Biden *before* office. Only the most obstinate partisan, fingers in the ears and hold breath people will not readily admit they see this. But how many people responding were even ALIVE when reagan was in office, let alone old enough to have a learned opinion? I am old enough to have voted for him in my first presidential election and heard/saw every word he ever uttered in public. And you can too! Youtube is pretty cool in that respect. A youtube rendering of an NTSC taped broadcast vs ANYTHING biden since 2019 shows the diff.

got one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Shop4Ever-Rep...67549081&psc=1

I get the coolest comments, even from people not alive then, when I wear it.

Among the populace, yes. But among elected Democrats vs. Republicans, no.

Reagan got elected Democrats (Congress) to vote for his programs by going on national TV, describing what he wanted to do, and asking the people to write or call their Congressmen and tell them to vote for it.

The people responded hugely, mostly because what Reagan described made sense (and later proved to work as he predicted). They flooded their congressmen with calls and letters, and many Democrats changed their votes rather than risk getting thrown out of office at the next election.

Reagan didn't make the Democrats in Congress "believe in the same thing" as he believed. Instead, he used a sledgehammer on them. As a result, he was the most successful President in living memory. Mostly because most of the American people wanted what he was proposing.

Democrats today can't use such a tactic, because most ordinary people DON'T want what they are selling.

Joe Biden is proof that all Democrats should not only have an ID to vote, but should also have to take an IQ test.

im not gonna disagree with a word you said, BUT, isnt that how the process should work? people buy in to something and tell the whipping boys to make it so... (today, it sorta tries to behave the other way around...)

In 1980, the last year of Jimmy Carter the federal government spent $591 billion. In 1986, the last recorded year of the Reagan administration, the federal government spent $990 billion, an increase of 68%. Reagan never proposed a cut in the total budget.

"The famous "tax cut" of 1981 did not cut taxes at all. It's true that tax rates for higher-income brackets were cut; but for the average person, taxes rose, rather than declined. The reason is that, on the whole, the cut in income tax rates was more than offset by two forms of tax increase. One was "bracket creep," a term for inflation quietly but effectively raising one into higher tax brackets, so that you pay more and proportionately higher taxes even though the tax rate schedule has officially remained the same. The second source of higher taxes was Social Security taxation, which kept increasing, and which helped taxes go up overall."

Federal tax receipts were $517 billion in the last Carter year of 1980. In 1986, revenues totaled $769 billion, an increase of 49%. Growing government isn't conservative.
Reagan didn't lie. It's call compromise to pass a budget with Tip O'Neil and Democrats running Congress. Maybe you called in sick the day school taught civics but that's how government works for decades and every President in both parties added to the debt. It's what governments do, SPEND. 1 party in power wants their list pass and the other party in power wants their list pass, it's call compromise. We don't live under a monarchy where a President is King and he can cut and spend by himself and the Congress is just a symbol.

California is the same, he had to deal with a very Democrat legislature. It was 39 Dem State Senators to 9 Republicans and 59 democrats to 19 Republicans in the State Assembly.

Instead of copy and pasting 1 sided partisan politics from the website, you should learn how the government works.
