Funny how that works..... huh?

Let's wait for the bodycam information to come out. (or not, after all LA is a *progressive city* 12 years behind my town. Apparently, progressive city goes hand in hand with letting their cops get away with anything, then whining about it and blaming others if politically useful. )

Then the partisans can ignore their own two eyes and post the same made up BS.

You want to justify shooting a guy after he drops his gun?

The point I was trying to make was they didn't even know he was armed, so they can't rely on perceived threat before the weapon was on the ground.

I'm sick of seeing black men resist arrest.

Correct. So why do they commit a disproportionate number of crimes? There are answers to that question but to say it publicly is called racist. The only thing that is going to change the AA community is when the AA community starts taking personal responsibility for their individual actions.

As I posted previously, it sounds like during the chase (which means they probably weren't a foot apart), they saw him drop clothing and a gun.

Do they wait for him to pick up the gun and use it against them? Is that what you're suggesting?

It doesn't sound like they caught him, saw him drop a gun, and then shot him.

The article is poorly written, I took it the same way you did at first.

There will be no progress on the issue of why these things keep happening disproportionately to black MEN, until there is a frank discussion of disproportionate black criminality.

There are otherwise two options:

1) Defund the police and see innocent black people fall victim to black crime in greater numbers; or

2) Neuter the police's ability to respond to threats and accept that police will have higher casualties in dealing with black criminals - deaths, injuries, etc.

Either one will not make black people in general, safer. The USA isn't Canada or Europe. People are more violent. Criminals are armed and dangerous.

I think it's why something like 85% of black people are NOT in favor of "defunding" police, and think that police presence at current levels is acceptable in their communities.

The fringe controls the narrative again.

It’s so obvious: It’s tied to the high OOW birthrate. It correlates with poverty, which in turn correlates with lower educational attainment, which in turn correlates with higher rates of crime. All the black community has to do is discourage unwed motherhood, and most of the problems would disappear in a generation.

How is this a "good shoot"?
Because of the deadly force triangle; weapon, opportunity (within immediate reach) and intent. Still fuzzy on the intent part, but certainly not unreasonable to think after punching a cop he made a move for it.

As of now, there is no video evidence as the officers were not wearing bodycams.

But ultimately, as I have touched upon several times in the past, it doesn't matter to some people if in fact the man punched an officer and was reaching for a gun. To these people, NO reason is justifiable for police to use deadly force on a Black person these days.

None of this would have happened had he complied.
