Trump is working tirelessly to display his ignorance of the Constitution and who actually controls the government purse strings.
Or maybe he does know the Constitution and hopes the Republicans in the Senate will let him get by with it. Trump surely has a lot of dirt he could dig up on them, if they complain or try to stop him. Interesting how Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) was against Trump at first in 2016, but sure isn't now.

Typical RW hypocrisy.
And, given in the past he said to use his words against him, LET's!
Cool, Seattle gets to keep their money instead of funding the country.
Without the contributions of residents and businesses in NYC, Seattle, Portland, ... however will we be able to continue subsidizing soybean famers, etc.?
WASHINGTON — President Trump is ordering the federal government to begin the process of defunding New York City and three other cities where officials allowed “lawless” protests and cut police budgets amid rising violent crime, The Post can exclusively reveal.
“My Administration will not allow Federal tax dollars to fund cities that allow themselves to deteriorate into lawless zones,” Trump says in the memo, which twice mentions New York Mayor Bill de Blasio by name.
Trump on Wednesday signed a five-page memo ordering all federal agencies to send reports to the White House Office of Management and Budget that detail funds that can be redirected.

A new low for even this POTUS.
This is Trump shirking responsibility and placing blame elsewhere to cover his pitiful failure to address the chaos and discord that he fuels in this nation.
Another divisive racist campaign stunt as an attempt to distract from his ongoing failed pandemic response and his revealed corruption and know-nothingness.

It strikes me that whenever someone who did not vote for Trump asserts "he's not my President" that person is - in my view rightfully - corrected because we have a process under which we live in which the election system selects one person to head the executive branch for all Americans. Everyone should recongnize the duly elected president as his/her president, whther that person voted for the person elected or not. However, that premise has a basis on the assumption that the PRESIDENT also believes that s/he is the president for all people whether they voted for him or not. While voters should not assert "he's not my President", the President should not assert "they're not my constituents."
The residents of those cities pay taxes to the federal government. A lot of taxes. Tax funds funds do not belong to Donald J. Trump.
