As more people move to North Carolina and Texas, they will become more and more blue. Making Texas blue will probably change the course of politics in the U.S. for decades. Yee haw!
Wisconsin's a lost cause, at this point. Just ask the extremist right wing to move there and then move Trump's sad attempt at a wall around it.
Many people moving to Texas are California expats. They are fed up with California so I doubt they will vote in politicians with a liberal ideology that’s destroying their former state.
The party’s principles are no longer palatable to a majority, so they need to rely on structural biases in elections that make it harder for a majority to vote against them. If they don’t evolve they will just bleed even more support until they do. The blue wave election of 2020 is going to be one of the worst R losses in history.
You'll need a bit of mayo to go with those words when you eat them in November. Happy munching.
Brcauss ghe idea that the people should choose their government is sort of key to the whole idea of a Republic and if that’s no longer the case you are going to have issues
Not nearly to the same extent. Both due to asymmetric polarization and opportunity.
It is harder to Gerrymander for Democrats because Republicans historically are more diffused with a few 80-20 Democrat strongholds with a bunch of 55-45 Republican suburbs and 60-40 rural areas.
As a result both Cracking and packing is fairly easy (try Daves Redustricting App, Republican Gerrymanders are super easy to do)
Texas this backfired since between 2010 and 2020 the Suburbs flipped blue or tightened while the Rural Areas deepened so their cracking strategy ended up creating a bunch of moderately Democratic seats today vs moderately Republican seats they were in 2010.
"We do it but you do it more" is another child's argument.

People do choose their government, you just don't like it because you want the city mob to do the choosing.

That's the part that they don't understand, the people who move to Texas will become Texans....it won't happen overnight, but it will happen.
I've seen the opposite happen as well, I know Texans who moved to California and were ruined, becoming Californians.

It’s not even close though. Basically every single Republican run State aggressively Gerrymanders while Democratic run states tend to try to create a non partisan redistricting committee.
A couple states like MD may do a Democratic Gerrymander but largely Democrats don’t Gerymander. The other example of Dems Gerrymandering is Massachusetts but rather than a Partisan one it’s incumbent protection (eg not drawing Incumbents into each other districts, trying to keep as much land as possible in the same districts) since there isn’t a single possible district that’s less than 55% Democratic.
Wisconsin and Ohio are really extreme cases of destroying democratic accountability since the states are growing so slowly the Gerrymander is much more robust over time compared to GA, NC or TX.
If you read the piece, Republicans lost the popular vote by 9% and still got 65 or 99 seats (almost a supermajority). While State offices were Dem Sweeps. That’s a body so unresponsive to the people everyone should be disgusted.
How very strange!
Wisconsin has Statewide Elections .... this is SOP in all States.
Wisconsin has Local Elections to elect their Local Officials AND their Legislative Representatives & Senators.
Also SOP.
The issue is that apparently the Locals did not Vote the way the Statewide Election did.
Politics is Local. Nothing new or Un-Democratic about that.
Whine-Whine-Whine
On the UP side .... there will be another Election in less than 60 days.
The PEOPLE get to speak again about who they want to represent them.
One side wants to "Destroy America." Their words, not mine.
The other side doesn't want to "Destroy America."
One side supports MOBS
The other side supports MOBS
One side wants to defund Law Enforcement
The other side supports Law & Order
Elections are about Choice - the Two Sides are very different, the People will choose.
