President Trump denied an allegation made against him, that isn't defamation.
That's why she wants the DNA sample. Trump denies he had sex with her. If she gets the DNA, she can prove he did. That makes what he said a lie, and turns it into defamation.
A little off topic, but this whole DOJ taking over the case just magnifies how Trump has found a lot of loopholes in our system. He's stonewalled, gone to court during the Ukraine Impeachment. He's used acting secretaries to bypass Senate approval. He's left key jobs unfilled. He's challenged the Hatch Act and Emoluments Clause over and over again. McConnell and Co (McCarthy, Barr et al) haven't done **** about it and are accomplices to it all.
Heard another explanation which makes sense to why the DOJ is legally handle the case. The charge against Trump isn't the original nasty rape assault that that he committed awhile ago.
The case involves the defamation charge that idiot committed was in office.
If Americans could sue the POTUS every time they feel like it, we'd have a POTUS continuously defending himself and unable to perform his duties.
Just think of the lawsuits that could occur if family members sued Trump for his dereliction/malpractice for not handling COVID-19 appropriately.
Trump has been sued over 3500 times. A high profile suit since he became president is the Stormy Daniels suit. There is no such thing as immunity to civil law, though Barr may try to say the federal government can't be sued without permission, which he won't give.

None of which has anything to do with being POTUS.
So where is the legal foundation for Barr stepping in to announce executive privilege?

One more step in the dictator for life program.
WIKI: "In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the President is entitled to absolute immunity from liability for civil damages based on his official acts."
Guess his comment about raping the lady wasn't in his "official role".....so you seem to be right. Suing him for dereliction by families who lost members due to COVID isn't possible though, I presume --since he botched things in his official role.
I do wish you people would come up with some new sleazy tricks to defame politicians you don't like.
This decades old rape allegation thing is really getting tiresome.
Even if that is the case, you don't have the Department of Justice of the United States defend a civil case against the President. That simply is not their job. Remember when he got impeached for abuse of power? He is doing it again. He didn't learn anything. Remember that Republican Senators punted on that since it was an Election year and they felt the people should decide his fate.
If you are ok with Trump abusing his power, then vote for him. Sadly, Trump will have done more to destroy America than any Democrat would.

Hilarious. Explain how she can prove he had sex with her with his DNA. Stop and think about what you are claiming. Do you understand that the Petri dish of her sleeve did not contain any semen?

False.
The DOJ represents elected officials that are being sued for something that occurred whale carrying out their official duties.
This is a common practice, and is in no way inappropriate.

She doesn't have to prove he had sex with her. He stated that she lied and that he never even met her. He stated that her accusation is only about making money. His DNA on her clothing would prove that he had, indeed, met her. And that would undermine everything else he said.
