BTW Gavin McGinnis is an admitted racist, he's not shy about it. He hates Muslims and has expressed Anti-Semitic views as well. Not sure why people are jumping up to defend the organization he founded.
For me, any extremist group or movement is bad, regardless of whether they are motivated by race or not. I don't particularly care for ANTIFA nor do I approve of Right Wing groups like The Proud Boys, because they always end up instigating and causing violence.
So I really don't understand why people go to such pains in defending any of them. Do they have a right to express their views? Sure, this is America. Will I vehemently defend any of their views? Absolutely not.

Something it appears you have completely wrong is suggesting they show up to instigate violence.
In most cases they show up where violence is occuring and no one stops it.
In other cases they show up where extremists are engaged in mob like behavior and seek to show that a different view exists. One that is not afraid to stand up to destructive political correctness.
It is notable that they are almost always greatly outnumbered in confrontations, to the point where its stupid to think they would throw the first punch.
