A new study from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that people who tested positive for COVID-19 were twice as likely to have reported dining out in the 14 days before their diagnosis than those who tested negative.

The researchers collected data July 1-29 across 10 states from 314 adults with coronavirus symptoms. About half of them (154) tested positive for the virus.

Participants were asked about possible community exposure in the two weeks leading up to their test and how well they followed social-distancing measures.

The study did not, however, ask whether participants dined indoors or outdoors, and researchers said more studies were needed to establish whether the findings would be similar in a larger sample of people.

The study comes with most states allowing people to dine indoors again. New York City recently announced plans to resume indoor dining on September 30.

Then indoor dining must be banned

Hell the only way to stop any infections whatsoever is permanent, perpetual lockdowns

Man they're really trying to destroy all indoor dining aren’t they. Useless study and bringing death to a dying industry. I’m a big foodie and haven’t dined since this crap began. Makes me sad.

There will never be enough jobs to absorb all of the jobs lost from the restrictions, including restaurant jobs. Now TPTB want to inflict more restrictions on society.

This seems completely obvious to me.

People who are in social gatherings with fairly large groups of unmasked people are the ones at risk for contracting covid.

This is a complete no-brainer. If you go out to eat, you are risking exposing yourself in a way you aren't if you go to a store where everyone is there for a half hour or less, and everyone is masked.

Did the CDC do a study on how many people that tested positive participated in a protest/riot?

The other side of the coin is figuring out how many DID eat out and didn't get the virus.
