I have a friend dying from esophageal cancer right now. She smoked for over 40 years. My dad died of lung cancer. He had his last cigarette just before they drugged him unconscious to die. You have to let the high risk cases eliminate themselves. It's their life. They can play Russian roulette and die if they want. I hate that my father and friend wouldn't quit smoking and killed themselves, but I wasn't going to fight them about it.

Let them die. It's their business. If you have to keep your distance and let them die alone, that's how it works.
It wasn't my equivalency, it was the OP's. Tell it to him. I agree it's a stupid analogy.

He's off message, always. He has no plan - he contradicts. The Pandemic Threat was in his threat brief in January. He was asleep at the wheel. People came in from China and Europe before he did anything. He lied to us about the seriousness. He continues to contradict his experts. He needs blame. He's the president. It's in his job description.

I know! Masks are scary! (Do you hide under your bed every Halloween?)

If other countries have only a few cancer deaths and we have 600,000.....

And Trump admitted to playing down the threat of cancer....

And he called the cancer danger a hoax...

And he urged his supporters to start smoking to spike the liberals...

And he disbanded the cancer team meant to fight this disease....

And he told people to inject disinfectant...

And he refused to meet with his own cancer czar....

And he defends the cigarette companies....

What do you think?

The same unintelligent people who blame Trump for COVID-19 likely also blame Trump for cancer.

If US is 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's cancer death....

Somebody fracked up.

A nation with one of the best medical systems and leading scientists and we are posting those numbers, of course it couldn't be leadership.

So its off to some desperate analogy to cancer.

The 2nd sentence truly baffles me.

One thing Covid has brought to light is how poorly aware Republicans/conservatives are in regards to how death certifications are filled out and have been filled out since time immemorial.

It will be much higher this year and the next few years given the amount of people who haven't sought medical attention during the pandemic closures. A lot of undiagnosed cancer and other disease out there.
