It avoids the inevitable "whoever Trump picks for the SCOTUS nomination raped me at a party 30 years ago" accusation that would come up for any male nomination he would've made. A sad reality but a pragmatic approach.

This position was held by a female judge. It's reasonable to appoint a female judge for the position, if she has the qualifications. Being a lawyer and a judge is all the qualifications they need.

I think that Biden and Trump both cheated in promising a female when they did, because I think both of them already knew exactly who they were going to pick. The puppeteers that control the brain dead meat puppet that is Joe Biden had already picked Kamala the Horrible Harris since forever ago. Sounds like Amy Barrett is going to be Trump's pick. Was right behind Kavanaugh on the Trump SCOTUS short list. She happens to be the most competent and most qualified anyways. They're also going to have a hard time accusing her of a 30 year old rape with no corroborating evidence, so that's also a positive.
But for any Dems who object, I hope you were also angry at Biden for promising to pick a woman VP. I do think both cases do smack of man-hating sexism and I don't think it's a good thing. I don't think either party should be playing the "we hate straight white men" game. It's just gross.
